    Is GRE good after B.Tech?

I am studying B.Tech 3rd year. I am unable to decide what to do after my B.Tech. Either go for G.R.E or for a job or try for any of the government service. Can you please help me out?

You need to decide which of these options suits your career aspirations. GRE is a good option for those interested in Master's course. If you intend to go it you will need to start preparation for the same immediately. You will need to appear for the exam when you are in the 4th year if you intend to go after the final year. You must consider the financial aspects before going in for it. Going for a job is another option. But make sure it is an area that will help you in reaching your career aspirations. You can go in for a Government job too. But if you wish to go in for technical field you must attempt GRE even if it is with work experience.

Both are good options, ie., GRE and Government jobs. However, I think it will be better for you carry out GRE. Now a days, it is very hard to get a public sector job after B Tech. Only extremely talented candidates may get Government jobs. Therefore, you can opt for higher studies through the GRE exam. Through the test, you can apply for postgraduate admissions in US or Canadian graduate schools. Once you complete your B.Tech course, you can attend as many Government tests as possible before going abroad. After completing the post graduation, if you prefer, you can apply for Government sector jobs also.

Yes, GRE is a very good option is you are interested in research.
There has been a change in GRE pattern from last year.

Here's What You Can Expect from the GRE revised General Test

A new test-taker friendly design for the computer-based test that lets you edit or change your answers, skip questions and more, all within a section giving you the freedom to use more of your own test-taking strategies. Another new feature: an on-screen calculator.

New types of questions in the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections, many featuring real-life scenarios that reflect the kind of thinking you'll do in today's demanding graduate and business school programs.

    Hello Dear
yes if you want to go abroad ,then Graduate Record Exam i.e. GRE is really a good choice.
You should have good control in english and concepts of engineering should also be cleared apart from having good hold in aptitude.

    hi,
You are in 3rd year of B.tech and it is agood time for you to decide in which field you are interested and which has future scopes.Though you have lot of time my advice is to give a trial of ezams you want like GRE,GATE,CAT etc and see where you stand if you are confident enough to get good score and enter good college my advices is to go for higher studies.Appear for campus interviews and if you are getting selected in well known company go for job and remember to study afterwars because this is competion worls B.tech degree wont last for long, having gaining some experience try to go for further studies and be determined on that.

It all depends on what you want to do.GRE is best after graduation if one wants to pursue masters course especially abroad as colleges abroad have a minimum criteria that the person should have qualified GRE.But if you want to do job after B.tech don't give GRE if you don't want to go for higher studies.

hii, its an good choice to go for GRE as you will get good chances to study more and work in big compnies and get good salries. There are lots of institutes like TIME, brilliant tutorials which give good coaching.you need to get 1400 marks to get into good colleges with schloarships.some of the good colleges are buffalow university, harvard university. If you like to go to job then you can go for it . many govt exams are there like the IES which give good scope or learning and high salaries,.

Re: Is GRE good after B.Tech?

    hii

Its a very common question that strikes an engineering student specially during their third year because it is the time really when one starts thinking of what really he/she has/should to do in future.

The solution is very simple. Prepare for GRE from now on if you have interests in your engineering even a bit. You can refer Barron's book for GRE. work hard and appear GRE next year. You can take date of the examination as per your convenience within a certain span of time. ie. after Aug2k11 to Nov2k11.
Preparing for GRE is not going to affect your Job. Your technical knowledge of your branch would be required in both taking up a job or going for higher studies. So, you should not be careless about our course and study that too in parallel. A simple review every week is sufficient.

If you get GRE score more than 1400/1600 then it would be easy to get scholarships. After that you will have to appear TOEFL(Test of English as a Foreign Language). The score of TOEFL is necessary to apply in most of the foreign universities. 90+ out of 120 is a fairly good score.

In parallel to all this play of GRE you also try for jobs. If you finally get admission in a good college in foreign then don't join the job.
Being focused completely for your ultimate goal is a good thing but this is a world of competition and you always should have back up plan.
If you don't get admission in MS this year go for a job try after 2 years then you will get a good college and a good scholarship too even at 1200 score.
    Try your best everywhere.

    good luck
