    Eligibility for being a Lecturer?

I have completed my BA English degree through Open University in University of Madras and later on I did my M.Sc Psychology in regular stream in the same. I got a seat in a regular college (affilliated to University of Madras) to do M.A. in English and also I got University first Rank and a gold medalist too. Further I did my M.Phil (English) in a Loyola college. Now I am working as an English lecturer, but now college is not permitting me to work as a lecturer and they are asking me to work in the admin field. I am so disappointed. Since they want 10+2+3 pattern but mine is 10+3+2+2+1 pattern. Am I eligible for lecturership otherwise can I write +2 exam now to enter into the field of teaching? Please help me.

Re: Eligibility for being a Lecturer?

There is no need for you to go for 12th exams after completing M.Phil. The problem doesn't seem in the 10+2+3 pattern. Though you have completed your Masters course you still have not cleared the NET exam. This is a must nowadays for those going for the lecture post. The Government is now insisting on the same. You appear for the test in June itself. The forms are available till the 30th of this month. If you feel you need some more time take the exam in December. You also have the option to take up PH.d too. This qualification is also acceptable for the lecture post.

Re: Eligibility for being a Lecturer?

As you are postgraduate, you can attend either the SET or NET exam. Once you clear the SET exam, you can apply for lecture jobs within the colleges in your State. UGC carries out the NET exam to select the eligible aspirants for awarding the Junior Research Fellowships. Those who clear the NET exam can work as lecturers in any institutes within India. Don’t waste your time by simply attending the 12th exam. Try to gain the NET certificate at the earliest. Enquire the University Grants Commission Office to know more about the exam. Otherwise, visit the official site of UGC for clarifying your doubts.

The problem is something another, you have many advantages but you are not NET qualifier. Now colleges demand NET qualifier for lecturship. The national educational testing bureau of university grants commission conducts National eligiblity test(net) to determine eligiblity for lectureship and award for junior research fellowship.Net exam conducts twice a year i.e in the months of June and December.Eligiblity is that a candidate must be postgraduate in any descipline.

Eligibility criteria for a lecturer was changed recently. Now to become a lecturer one should passes NET examination. NET is conducted twice in year and one should have master degree to appear for this exam.

As you have your master degree, you can go for this NET examination. You need not to pass 12th, just clear NET exam and you would be eligible for lecturer.
Forms for NET are available now.

    Hi,
to be a lecturer in any junior college you can do your B.ed course in maths physics, chemistry and many other which ever you interested.
but If you want to e a lecturer in a degree colleges then you have to do PG course in any field.
In B Tech colleges, you will be appointed as asst.professor even after your B TECH but better to take PG in any field it gives you good opportunities.

my friend as u have completed ur masters in the old peroid..there was no NET exam which u qualified...i think this is the main reason why u are facing such problems...
according to the latest gudlines of AICTE u have to qualify an exam called NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST in order to pursue your career in the lecturership...u havew to score atleast 55% in your post graduation... i would advice u to go for the NET exam after which u will become eligible for the posts of lecturer in various govt and private colleges...

    Hello
Well to become a lecturer you have to get qualified in an Exam called NET(National Eligibility Test) ... You must score at least 55-60% in your Post Graduation . By applying for NET exam you will be eligible for Being a lecturer in Government and private colleges. The main thing is you can only opt for the subject after NET that you have pursued in PG. for example if you have pursued science as your subject in PG then you have to opt for science after Entry into NET.
    good luck
