    The Directorate of Distance Education of North Bengal University offers Master of Arts in Political Science course at the PG level, which is divided into two years namely Part I and Part II.

    Papers in the Part I of M.A. Political Science course:

    The first year of the M.A. Political Science course includes the following papers:

    Political Thought (Western Political Thought)
    Main Currents of Political Thought in India (Emphasis on Modern India)
    Indian Politics: Structure and Setting
    Indian Politics: Process and Issues
    Public administration: Approaches, Principles and Theories
    Development Administration (with special reference to Indian Administration)
    International Relations: Theories and Problems
    Contemporary Political Issues
    Western Political Theory: Approaches, Models and Theories

    About Public administration: Approaches, Principles and Theories:

    This paper offered in the first year of M.A. Political Science course is called as Course 5 and its syllabus is divided into five units and an outline of the units are given below:

    Unit I: Meaning, Scope and Significance
    Unit II: Organisation
    Unit III: Political Structure and Administration
    Unit IV: Public Policy and its implementation
    Unit V: Accountability and control

    Pattern of Course 5 paper:

    Final examination for Course 5 will be conducted for 50 marks and the total time allotted for completion of the examination is two hours. The paper will have five questions out of which 5th question should be compulsorily answered, while any two questions from the rest of four should be answered.
