TANCET denotes Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test and this examination is conducted on behalf of Government of Tamil Nadu by the Anna University for admission of students to the PG courses being MBA, MBA and M.E/M. Tech. TANCET M.E. score is taken into consideration for admission of students to the different branches of M.E. course in government and private colleges affiliated to the Anna University.

Eligibility requirement for taking up TANCET M.E. entrance examination:

Candidates, who are doing their final semester or candidates who have completed their Bachelor of Engineering course are eligible to apply to the TANCET M.E. Entrance Examination.

Structure of TANCET M.E. Exam Pattern:

The duration of TANCET M.E. Examination is two hours and the paper consists of three parts and they are:

• Part I – Mathematics
• Part II – Basic Engineering and Sciences
• Part III – Any one of the 14 engineering specialization

Part I and II are common for all candidates and as far as Part III is concerned, candidates can choose any of the 14 specializations like social sciences, probability & statistics, physics and material sciences, architecture, leather technology, textile technology, etc…

TANCET M.E. Mathematics:

TANCET M.E. has two papers in common for all candidates and they are mathematics and basic engineering & sciences. The mathematics part will have 30 multiple choice questions with four options and one correct answer has to be selected by candidates. The mathematics part will have questions from applied probability, numerical methods, transforms, functions of complex variables and complex integration, vector calculus, calculus and differential equations and determinants & matrices.

Scoring Pattern:

Each question in the mathematics part carries one mark and 1/4th mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
