    Maharashtra Public Service Commission is responsible for conducting Maharashtra State Service Examination for recruitment of candidates to the job positions arising in government organizations in the state of Maharashtra.

    About the Maharashtra State Service Examination:

    The state service examination of Maharashtra conducted for recruitment of candidates to civil services is held in three different stages being preliminary examination, main examination and interview. Preliminary examination is common for all candidates and only those candidates getting through the preliminary examination will be called for main examination, which is conducted in different subjects and candidates are permitted to choose any one of those subject in which they have wide knowledge.

    About Agriculture Paper in Maharashtra State Service Examination:

    The subject code of agriculture paper is 101 and it has two papers namely Paper-I and Paper-II. Both papers are conventional type papers with questions from degree in agriculture standard.

    What does Agriculture Paper-II evaluate?

    Answers to this paper should be written only in English and the paper is designed in such a way as to test the ability of candidates to appraise, criticize, interpret, analyze and to comprehend subject matter pertaining to the topics covered in the syllabus of the paper. Candidates are expected to study the recent and latest happenings and developments pertaining to the topics covered in the syllabus given below:

    Syllabus of Agriculture Paper-II:

    Paper-II of agriculture has four sections A, B, C and D with 50 marks for each section thereby making a total of 200 marks. The questions under each of these sections will be based on the following chapters:

    Section – A: Agricultural Botany

    • Cell Biology
    • Genetics
    • Plant breeding
    • Seed technology
    • Physiology
    • Growth and development of plants

    Section – B: Plant Pathology, Entomology and Nematology

    • Plant Pathology

    • Pesticides

    Section – C:

    • Food Policy and standards
    • Live stock production and management
    • Biotechnology
    • Remote sensing and its application in agriculture and natural resource management

    Section – D: Agricultural Economics and extension

    • Agricultural Economics
    • Extension
