    General Insurance, life and health contingencies is a core technical paper offered by the Institute of Actuaries of India and the code number of this paper is CT5. The aim of this paper is to offer a grounding to the learners in the mathematical techniques that can be used for value and model cashflows on the basis of survival, death or any other uncertainties. The subject complements the other papers of the course being CT1, CT3, CT5 and ST2 paper offered by the institute.

    Knowledge acquired from the paper:

    On completion of this subject, trainees will be in a position to:

    Describe different terms pertaining to insurance like benefit, premium, etc
    Describe probabilities and their selective equivalents
    Obtain expression in the form of sums
    Obtain expression in the form of integrals
    Derive relationship between annuities payable
    Define the expected accumulation

    Several other knowledge areas can be acquired by students on completion of this paper.

    Examination for models paper:

    The maximum marks allotted for the paper will be 100 and the examination should be completed within three hours. There will be 13 questions in total and the trainees will have to start answering each question in a separate sheet in the answer sheet.

    Previous years question papers:

    Examination is conducted by the institute of Actuaries of India two times a year in the month of May and November and past question papers belonging to the years 2005 to 2012 are given in the attachment.
