    Download Indian Forest Service Chemistry Exam Previous Years Question Papers

    Indian Forest Service is an esteemed service ranked after IAS and IPS. UPSC conducts the examination for recruitment to IFS every year. The recruitment is held in three phases of which the first phase is written examination.

    Exam Pattern:

    Out of the six papers, Chemistry is an optional paper which has two papers namely Paper I and Paper II. This subject is widely chosen by many IFS aspiring candidates.

    Syllabus for Chemistry in Indian Forest Service Exam:

    Chemistry is divided into two papers namely Chemistry Paper I and Chemistry Paper II.

    Paper I contains the following questions:-

    • Chemical Bonding
    • Solid State
    • The Gaseous State and Transport Phenomenon
    • Liquid State
    • Thermodynamics
    • Phase Equilibria and Solutions
    • Electrochemistry
    • Chemical Kinetics
    • Photochemistry
    • Surface Phenomena and Catalysis
    • Bio-inorganic Chemistry
    • Coordination Compounds
    • Main Group Chemistry
    • General Chemistry of f block elements

    Paper II encompasses the following:-

    • Delocalised Covalent Bonding
    • Pericyclic Reactions
    • Synthetic uses of Reagents
    • Photochemistry
    • Spectroscopy

    Duration of Chemistry paper in Indian Forest Service Exam:

    Both the papers are of three hours in duration carrying a maximum of 300 marks. Answers need to be descriptive in nature. Both the papers are held in the same day by UPSC.

    Scoring pattern:

    Candidates are marked based on the quality of answers. Good amount of information in answers works in the candidate’s favor. There is no scheme of negative marking in these two papers.
