There is no difference between both these exams. In some states the exam is called State Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship posts and in some states it is State Level Eligibility Test (SLET). Like in the state of Maharashtra is called SET but In Tamil Nadu it is SLET. The test is valid for that state only. On clearing the exam the candidate can apply for a job only in the state that he appeared for the exam. Like if a candidate in Maharashtra on clearing the exam applies for a job in Tamil Nadu his application will be rejected. It is a must that only candidates with Masters degree will be allowed to appear for the exam. If you have plans to shift then it is advisable to apply for you to apply for the NET.

SET is State Eligibility Test and SLET is commonly known to be as State level Eligibility Test. These tests are carried out mainly as to select eligible candidates to the lectureship posts in different colleges in a particular state. SLET and SET are basically the same. Different states have different names. Pune University calls this exam as SET and universities like Bharathiar University call it as SLET. SLET and SET is based on a similar pattern of the National eligibility test which is carried out by the UGC. As to be eligible for SLET, a candidate needs to have completed his master’s degree with more than 55% of marks. This exam is carried out every June or July months. The application procedures will start from 3 months prior to this.

SLET and SET are both same.This are exam conducted for eligibility in lecturership.Moreover, A SET holder of one state is not eligible to take up job in another state.It will be better if you appear NET.This exam is conducted at National level.It will give you eligibilty of taking up lecturer post in any part of the country.

If you clear the set exam conducted by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore then you are eligible to take up lecture job in Tamil Nadu.
