Re: Difference between MCA and a Computer Engineer?

MCA is basically Masters in Computer Application. In this course basically the candidate gains theoretical knowledge in both software and hardware. The B.tech course is basically related to the application of the concepts. BE on the other hand involves developing new and improving on the existing concepts. In terms of value Bachelors degree is more valuable in job front. The pay scale is also higher than MCA candidates. Job profiles for these candidates are almost the same though. To be an MCA you need to first of all complete BCA course or BSc in Computer application. But a candidate can go for the B.Tech/ B.E course right after 12th. The number years to become an MCA including 3 years of Bachelors course but for B.Tech/B.E only 4 years are required.

Re: Difference between MCA and a Computer Engineer?

There is not much difference in the job profiles of the candidates from this background. The difference is in the training provided in these courses. A bachelor in Engineering is more related to developing new technologies and applications. B.Tech candidates on the other hand are required to learn to use these applications. MCA on the other hand provides more of theoretical knowledge. Both BE/B.Tech are considered equivalent. But MCA is not considered equivalent to these two courses. There is a difference in pay scale and the grades in the organisation. If you have an option it will be better if you pursue the B.E or B.Tech course.

Re: Difference between MCA and a Computer Engineer?

    engineering is 4 years courses
for mca you need to complete 3 years bca
then you can do mca that is 3 years
so engineering after a 12th needs 4 years
    mca after 12th needs years

but mca is in more demand than engineering

so better go for bca then mca rather than engineering

Re: Difference between MCA and a Computer Engineer?

the differences between MCA and a B.tech computer engineers are :

-a MCA student have more theoretical knowledge of hardware, software and computer applications, whereas a B.tech computer engineer also have good theoretical knowledge of hardware and software, but they also have very good practical knowledge also.
-a B.tech student is preferred more than a MCA student by a company because companies demand students that have good practical knowledge and in companies most of the work done is practical work.
-a B.tech students get high salary packages than MCA students.

if you had to choose one option then i would definately suggest you to do B.tech instead of MCA.

If you study computer science or Information technology in b.tech then you will be called as computer engineer .Top most mnc's will recruit you if you have an aggregate of 60% minimum and you will be having handsome salaries.

MCA is the PG course that you do after your degree. After completing B.SC or B.com you will write an entrance test.Based upon the rank you will get a seat in college to study MCA.Even mnc's will hire MCA graduates if they have computer background ,i mean B.com or B.sc computers and later specializations in computers .

There is not much difference but the difference is that after BCA or BSC and MCA you will become software engineer and after B.tech you will become computer engineer. The value of both courses are same.
If you are from science background you should go for B.tech.
And if you are from commerce stream you should go for either B.SC or BCA and MCA.
    Good luck.

Generally a computer engg. and a MCA student will given equal priority
MCA or Master of Computer Application is a general Master's degree course related with computer application.

It simultaneously deals with software and hardware functions and implementations.

On the other hand, a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering is a technical bachelor's degree course, which is also related with software and hardware.

But the difference in these two are that an MCA student knows the theory part of software and hardware more than a B.Tech student.
More or less, goals of both are same and job prospects also are equal for both.

Re: Difference between MCA and a Computer Engineer?

A MCA student can put the tag of engineer in front of his/her name(virtually), no matter whatever may be his or her experience level is.
To become a software engineer after MCA you will have to go for M.Tech in Software Engineering.

    Now coming to BE/ B.tech:
This is a different name of a same course. Generally what happens is, a university offers a BE certificate where a college of engineering provides you B.Tech degree certificate.
as you know many universities in India provides Engineering courses. those all gives BE certificate.
job aspect of an engineer is always better than a MCA student. They found to be more employable in respect to MCA student.
but low end software job companies takes MCA students because they need less salary compared with Engineer student.

Both courses are computer courses.Mca is a master degree and you can do this course after bca. There is so much scope after mca.So its better to choose MCA.

The other option is engineering. Its also a very good field.and by this you can get so many jobs opportunities. The Mca and Engineering level are similar but Mca is a master degree and engineering is a becholor

degree. So its depend on you.You can choose any one of them which give you more satisfaction. So go for it.

    Hi,

MCA is a Master of Computer Applications which is a general master's degree course. It deals with Software and Hardware functions and Implementations. You will know the theory part more than B.Tech student if you do MCA.It makes you skilled in theory,Programming, algorithm design,Database management and other related fields.

It is a three years course after completing your graduation.

On the other hand a B.Tech in Computer Science is a technical Bachelor's degree course which also deals with Software and Hardware. You will know technical implementation.

It is a 4 years course after completing your 12th or after diploma course it is a three years course.

The main difference is that a B.Tech student knows about the technical implementation and an MCA student know the applications and theory part.

The goals and job opportunities will be same and equal for both of them.

    The job opportunities like:
    >Software Designing
    >Website Designing
    >Animation
    >Graphic Designing

There is a slight difference between MCA holder and (B.Tech)Computer Engineer because they are two software programers but in MCA holder have the knowledge about the programing and developing is different from the B.tech holder.B.tech student can gain knowledge from the starting in programing and developing.

The deference is also present in profile like project development and strategy .

Thumbs up Re: Difference between MCA and a Computer Engineer?

MCA is equivalent to ME (Computer Science and Engineering)

MCA with Only B.Sc. (Computer Science) background is equivalent to ME (Computer Science).

    B.Sc. Computer Science (3 Yrs) + MCA (3 Yrs) = 6 Years.

    BE Computer Science (4 Yrs) + ME (2Yrs) = 6 Years.

MCA and ME both are equal.

Companies are giving equal priority to both MCA and ME.

Two Master's Degrees, MCA and ME, are treated Same for jobs and there is no difference in the competence ratings.

Both MCA and ME (Computer Science and Engineering) Professional Degree courses, the contents of theory and practical syllabus are Same.

MCA and ME Degree holders are Equal to each other.

MCA - Master of Computer Applications.

ME - Master of Engineering (Computer Science and Engineering).

    MY DEAR FREIND

FOR MCA YOU CAN COMPLETE BSC FIRST AFTER YOU CAN GO FOR MCA.SO YOU KNOW ONLY THEORY.MCA MEANS THEY KNOW SOFTWARE DOVELOPMENT.
AFTER 12 TH YOU CAN JOIN B.TECH.SO BTECH THREE YEARS COURSE FROM FIRST YEAR B.TECH STUDENTS STARTS THEIR PRACTICALS AND THEORY ALSO.
SO THE ARE CALLED AS SOFTWARE ENGINEERS.
I THINK B.TECH IS BETTER WAY FOR SOFTWARE SIDE.TIME ALSO SAVED AND FROM FIRST STEP YOU CAN GET PRACTICAL UPON COMOUTER....

MCA MEANS COMPUTER PROGRAMMER AND BTECH MEANS PROGRAMME CONSTRUCTOR..

    Hi Sir/Madam,
In the corporate world B.Tech/B.E courses are given the first preference. After Inter (10+2) B.Tech/B.E can be opted where as MCA is opted gradution course(10+2+3) and MCA is considered as profesional course.Duration of the courses ,B.Tech/B.E -4 Years, MCA - 3 years. For a better salary one has to go for M.S,B.Tech would be consider has masters but MCA Person would be getting double master degree.

    Hello,
There is not Much Difference in Level among them.
After Completing Btech you will be Computer Engineer and After completing MCA you will be Software Developer.
Software Developer creates softwares and Computer Engineer provides platform for the Softwares.
Btech-4 yrs, BCA-3 Years. This Totally Depends on Your Interest and hardwork.
