Re: Which courses can I pursue after IGCSE course?

Doing a course in IGCSE is considered equivalent to the 10th board in India. It seems a lot fascinating. Lots of parents especially those financially rich encourage their wards to take up this course. But the syllabus and pattern of training provided to the students is entirely different to the other boards in the country. It is more project and practical oriented. A student on clearing the IGCSE exam normally finds it difficult to shift to the systems of training provided for higher education in India. It will be more advisable to pursue further education abroad. In countries like UK you can pursue courses like IB diploma, A/AS level. This course is advisable for those who wish to pursue studies abroad.

The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a worldwide accepted qualification. This course is similar to the 10th examination of ICSE/CBSE. IGCSE is a two-year program. It is extend over 9 and 10 Class. The course focus in developing and encourages fundamental educational expertise which comprises of verbal skills, exploratory skills, problem resolving, team work, recollection of facts and initiative. The final examination is conducted each year in the month of May and November. A student having the certification of IGCSE course is qualified for applying to any +2 level and higher courses, similar to the 10th pass students. They can also opt for any international pre-university program, like IB Diploma, Advanced Placement Diploma (US), and A/AS Level & AICE (UK).

IGCSE is course offered by some international schools in lieu of ISC/CBSE. The curriculum is different with different subjects. This is basically for children who have done their primary education from schools outside india. A student after completing IGSCE can pursue any career especially in Govt service/ Banks/ MBA/ and civil services. They can also apply for engineering and medical colleges through entrance exams.

Hi, I'm currently in 8th and am thinking of shifting to IGCSE from ICSE in 9th grade. Could someone tell me what its like? Is it difficult, having 8 different grades and all that...? Is it as hard as ICSE? Is it more project oriented? And will universities in India accept you if you've taken IGCSE as a board in 9th and 10th? And what happens after 10th? Right, many questions. Please answer someone?
