As you got average marks in class 12th so don't go for engineering, this is not good field for all the candidates. Now a days there are a lot of of engineering colleges are there where students are getting admission easily but after degree they are not getting placement so you should not in this field. You should pursue graduation in any one stream ,along with graduation start preparation of any one entrance exam. After three years you will have good command to crack that exam thus it's better option as compared to engineering. You can pursue graduation in following subjects-

    Physics
    Chemistry
    Maths
    Computer science
    Arts
    Commerce
    Management field
    Fine arts
    Economics etc

Once you complete your graduation then you will be eligible for following entrance exams-

    UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAM
    Indian forest services exam
    India Railway exams
    Indian armed forces entrance exam
    CDS
    AFCAT
    Bank exams
    Income tax inspector exam
    Teaching field
    Administrative services etc
State public service commission exams etc.

This field have more option as compared to other ,but your planning must be strong enough. With pre -planned scheme you can get better career. If you are totally interested in technical field and want to do some new work in this field then only you can go for engineering which is really become very common but still tough to get first class degree.
