    Dear Friend,
it is not compulsory to learn C/C++ before joining engineering college as it is not part of the eligibility but still if you have interest and free time then there is no harm in having some extra knowledge apart from our main subject. If you are doing B.Tech in Computer Sciences then it will be very beneficial for you in the future.College faculty does teach C/C++ as a part of the subject in 1st year of study but it is for one semester only and that too just for passing the particular subject.C/C++ is a very good programming language and must be known to every engineer as it will be asked in interviews and written exams during placements. So preferably you should do a course in C before or even after joining your college but you should do it.
    All the best.

NO NO. It is not compulsory to learn C or C+ before joining an engineering college!!!
for the engineering college, they required only 12th pass with PCM as main subjects with their demandable percentage as varies.
but for engineering, it is not compulsory to already learnt about C/C+.
After joining engineering college, they will teach you about C and C+
so you have not worry that you have to learn already!

no, to be already learn of C/C+ is not necessary.
they can teach you about C and C+ after joining in engineering college,
but before joining its not neccesary to do the course,
they not required that before joining engineering college...

Re: Is it compulsory to learn C/C++ before joining an Engineering College? Do they(college faculty) teach C/C++?

No, It is not compulsory to learn C/C++ before joining engineering colleges. Most engineering colleges have C/C++ as one of the subjects in 1st and 2nd semester of B.Tech course. You can learn the C/C++ programming language while studying in B.Tech. If you know C/C++ before the college then it can prove as a positive point for you, It will help you in studies and you would get less trouble while doing assignment. But if you don't know C/C++ then don't worry you will get to know about it while doing assignments. Also programming language skills are developed mainly in B.Tech while doing practical work. Theortical knowledge about programming doesn't help much. To study C you can consult Let us C book. It is the best C programming language book for starters. For C++ you can read Complete reference C++.

    Hello friend,
It is not mandatory for you to learn C and C++ languages before joining the engineering college.

It is to be noted that these subjects are present in almost all the streams of engineering like ECE,EEE,CSE,IT,MECHANICAL etc.
So everyone advice you to join these courses such that you shall feel easy while you study the same subjects during the course study and can have a good scoring in such subjects and there shall be so many chances for you to improvise in your programming and problem solving abilities if you pre-attend C,C++ languages in institutes.

I personally recommend you to attend if you are financially capable of opting for, please do choose institutes like NIIT so that you may have an added certificate which you can attach in your resume in future.

    All the best.

    Hi friend,

There is no need to learn C/C++ before joining engineering college .According to the syllabus of B.E/B.Tech IT/COMPUTER'S these language 's are part of it.
If you have some basic knowledge or you want to practice it will be plus point for you.

    Syllabus programming for B.E/B.Tech IT/COMPUTER'S
    • first year- Basic C
    • Second year- C and data structure including C++.
    • Third year - Visual basic and Java.

So, there is no need to learn before admission. These subjects will be taught by your faculty in deep.

    Good luck..!!

Re: Is it compulsory to learn C/C++ before joining an Engineering College? Do they(college faculty) teach C/C++?

No it is not at all necessary to learn these languages before you
join engineering courses. These languages are taught at 11th and 12 th standard in CBSE board as
optional subjects .So if you have prior exposure to them , it will definitely help.
Also it depends on what branch you choose in engineering .
If you choose Mechanical, civil or automobile you have to only study
these in first year, that too only C.
If you choose computer science or IT , you will be learning these and other high level languages.
If you choose ECE you will have one computer subject in every semester.
And Yes they do teach C/C++ in engineering institutes because they are a part of syllabus.

no it is not compulsory to learn c and C++ before joining Engineering course.
your engineering syllabus(all stream) have C in your first year. so u can learn C during your 1st year of course.
but many college does not have good teaching faculties for programming papers. So you can join some courses for programming languages in institutions like NIIT.
So begin in 1st year to study C that is fair enough it is not mandatory to learn those before joining.
if you join BE CSE u can learn programming languages like C,C++,VB,JAVA,C#.NET etc. so after joining engineering you can start learning C,C++

It is not compulsory to read/learn C and C++ LANGUAGES before joining an Engineering colleges.

If any candidate want to read C and C++ LANGUAGE so no doubt languages improve your knowledge ability and develop thinking new software design and help in developing web designing.

Web designing play vital role in design and developing new softwares. If any candidate belonging to mechanical/electrical/civil branch then C and C++ LANGUAGE are not mandatory but at the placement time it is nacessary .

Special Instruction for Computer Science candidate :-

Computer science and IT branch candidate have required to read C and C++ Languages before joining the institution because C languages play important role in Computer Science subject.

1)Candidate have at least knowledge of Structure ,Union ,Array and One dimensional Array.

    2)Program executive knowledge required.

3)During program execution error knowledge of source code is also compulsary.

    No Friend,

It's not at all compulsory for the students joining in B.Tech (Bachelor of technology) program to have knowledge in C or C++ (or any other programming language)..

Because in the first semester of Engineering lectures will be teaching these programming language..

More over students of ECE, CSE, EEE, IT and other too specialization will be covering these programming language in first years..

But as per personal interest if you want you can have pre- planed coaching before joining B.Tech..

for more information see the syllabus of required b.Tech course you are trying to Opt.

Re: Is it compulsory to learn C/C++ before joining an Engineering College? Do they(college faculty) teach C/C++?

    Dear brother,

Its not compulsory to learn the programming languages like; C/C++ before joining in your Engineering college...
But if you learn and have a good knowledge on them(C,C++) then, it will be really good to understand more better when you entered in your first year.....
No matter in which department you are going to enter in engineering, you have to study the basic programming language i.e C..

** 'C' is a general-purpose computer programming language which is developed by Dennis Ritchie in 1973...
    In 'C' you will learn all the details about ;
    -Data types
    -Pointers,Arrays
    -Memory management
    -Libraries
    etc..
And C++ was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup starting in 1979 at Bell Labs as an enhancement to the C language.
Originally named C with Classes, the language was later renamed C++ in 1983.

Both these programming languages give you the knowledge in programming which will be useful for you even after your completion of B.tech..
Because most of the companies will look into the candidates "C language" skills while they are recruiting.

And the faculty will teach you these programming languages in the first year........
So,dont worry...But if you have good grip well in advance among these programming languages, then you can have really good knowledge in advance..
It is depends on your interest to enhance these programming languages skills.
    All the best brother...........

It depends on your interest .if you want to learn C/C++ so you can but it is not compulsory to learn before joining engineering.According to me you should learn it in your engineering, you do not need to learn it separately but If you have some basic knowledge or you want to practice it will be plus point for you.If you are doing B.Tech in Computer Sciences then it will be very beneficial for you in the future.College faculty does teach C/C++ as a part of the subject in 1st year of study but it is for one semester only .I hope you get success in your life.

    Dear friend,

it is not necessary to learn the c or c++ before the b.tech. you can learn these language in the degree direct. but if you have a small knowledge of these language then this will be better for you in the b.tech.

in these days the schools courses are also consists the computer knowledge and in the 11th and 12th the c and c++ courses are exist in the syllabus.

so you will be studied about these language. not full language but some knowledge will be beneficial for you in the degree.

so not compulsory but a little bit knowledge is needed.

    best of luck.

Thumbs up Re: Is it compulsory to learn C/C++ before joining an Engineering College? Do they(college faculty) teach C/C++?

    Ans:

1.No, it is not compulsory to learn either C or C++ before joining in Engineering.

2.Yes college will provide faculty for C and C++

3.Other than CSE and IT there is no need to learn C++ in their B.Tech in JNTU affiliated colleges.

4.But after your EAMCET or any engineering entrance test you will get almost 4 to 5 months time, so mean time if you join in C class, it will much useful to you because where ever you go after B.Tech for interview they will definitely ask few questions about C, including ECE students since in Embedded systems they will use Embedded C as programming Micro Controller proagrams

    Hello Friend

It is not necessary to learn C / C++ before joining in your Engineering Bachelor degree course.
The college faculty did not put any requirement regarding the compulsory learning of C / C++.
If you joined in Engineering college once with in any branch like
    Computer Science
    Electronics and Communication Engineering
    Mechanical
    Electrical Engineering
You will be given coaching regarding C / C++ at your 1st semester as it is one of the main subject in your syllabus sheet at your 1st year course.

So dude don't worry about C / C++ ,if you had interest in learning before joining the college you can go for the coaching classes as it will help you to understand more about the subject and have a grip on that.

In my view i suggest you to go for Java courses if you pursue your degree in Computer field as it fetch u a lot after your degree for jobs purpose.
For any further information leave your message here.

    REGARDS.

    Hi

It is not compulsory that you need to learn c and c++ before joining the college. If you have the interest to do the course, well you can do but engineering syllabus will definitely contain chapters dealing with the basic of c and c++. If you complete the c and c++ course, it will definitely add some valve to your resume. It is up to you take the right decision.
