The National Eligibility Test is conducted by the National Educational Testing Bureau of University Grants Commission. It is a must to qualify in this exam to enter in the field of teaching and research. Those who clear this exam are awarded the Junior Research Fellowship.
However an exemption has been made for those who have a Master in Philosophy Degree or have completed their Doctorate from recognized university. These recognized universities normally will be covered under the University Grants Commission. Since you have already completed M.Phil you can apply for lectureship post in any university. Only check out whether the university where you have pursued M.Phil is recognised.

The National Educational Testing Bureau of UGC has made the National Eligibility Test (NET) a basic criterion to enter as a lecture in University and colleges. After clearing this exam the person is awarded the Junior Research Fellowship. NET will ensure that quality lecturers are appointed in colleges and university.

There is an exemption for those who have MPhil and PhD from recognized university covered under the UGC. Merely having an MPhil and PhD is not enough because the standard level is very low nowadays.

As for you check whether you have completed M.Phil in a recognized university under the UGC and apply for lectures post in any university of you choice.

yes you have to qualify NET exam to be a lecturar.

PREVIOUSLY IT WAS THE RULE THAT APPOINTMENT OF A LECTURER CAN BE DONE WITHOUT NET QUALIFICATION IF HE HAS A DOCTRATE DEGREE BUT NOW THE RULE HAS BEEN CHANGED AND IT STATES THAT IF ONE NEEDS TO BE A LECTURER HE MUST QUALIFY NET EXAMINATION AND IS A DOCTRATE.
NET EXAM IS CONDUCTED BY CSIR TWICE A YEAR WHICH WAS SUBJECTIVE PREVIOUSLY BUT NOW ITS PATTERN ALSO HAS BEEN CHANGED AND NOW IT IS OBJECTIVE.

If you are a P.hd holder then there is no need to clear the NET exam for lecturer post.
Central gov. has declared a person has to be either a P.hd holder or he/she have to clear NET exam to become a lecturer in any college.Because P.hd degree is equivalent to NET exam.

But if you are not a P.hd degree holder then you have to appear for NET exam.

It is the mandatory exam,which need to be cleared if a person wants to become a lecturer in any degree college.

Eligibility criteria for NET exam is follows:
1. You should be an Indian.

2. If you have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent.

3.If you are appearing for the final year exam of masters degree can also apply.

4.You should not be more than 28 years . A relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories and to women applicants.

If you are having Phd then it is not a problem. they always ask for either UGC NET or Phd.

If one clears NET exam and wants to be a leacturer, then Is it also necessary to do Phd? Is Only clearing NET for lecturership is not sufficient ?

I have done Bcom and masters in personnel management. I am preparing to appear for NET in the sujects related to management. Please someone guide whether my qualification is enough to appear for NET exam.

I think there is only One answer to those with Bogus M phil And P hd Degree holders that they should do other things except teaching. It is because if a person can't qualify NET/SLET Exam, he has no moral and legal right to think of teaching at college or university level. I believe NET Should be even made compulsory for those who are already in service. People ( undeserved) are crying there are no eligible NET/ SET candidates for which there is only one real answer that each year approximately 25000 candidates qualify NET. So where does lie the question of non availibility.
