Civil Service or MBA after B.E. (Mechanical)

I am currently pursuing 2 year B.E. (Mechanical). I wish to do MBA from any of the reputed institute of our country after completion of my graduation. At the same time I have equal interest in appearing for civil services and and serving the government. I am unable to decide which to opt. Is the idea of appearing for civil services after pursuing MBA suggestible? Please give me some guidance regarding my career choices.

Re: Civil Service or MBA after B.E. (Mechanical)

Both MBA and Civil Service are very good career options. For both the streams you need to appear for the entrance exams. For the civil service you will need to appear for the UPSC exam. For admission to a good MBA institute you will need to appear for entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XLRI etc. In comparison to the level of difficulty it is more difficult to clear the civil service exam. However for MBA you have an option of many good MBA institutes. For either of the exams you can start preparing for the same. Reading newspaper is especially important. If you are not confident that you may not be able to clear the civil service then you can pursue MBA and in the mean time continue preparing for the civil service exam.

MBA is a good option for you and hope you will get in to a good institute of your choice. As to appear in civil service exam, one needs to have a graduate degree or its equivalent from a recognized university. You can choose to appear in civil service exam right now or after doing your MBA. This will give much more career option. But one thing you need to check is the age criteria. You can only appear the civil service exam up to a certain age. So, check whether you will be eligible after completion of MBA, to write the civil service exams. All the information regarding the exam is available in the official website of UPSC. Please go through it to clear your doubts regarding civil service exams.

most of the engineered crowd turn to MBA after B.E, in their respective field of study. as it adds to their specifications and broadens their job prospects. and for that one needs to appear for various MBA entrance exams. and in case of civil services, you need to clear many levels of examination like preliminary, mains, interviews, etc. which can cost you some years, or may be a year if you are lucky enough.

Re: Civil Service or MBA after B.E. (Mechanical)

CIVIL SERVICE AND MBA ARE BOTH GOOD OPTIONS.
    DIFFICULT TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THEM.

IN CIVIL SERVICE SOME POST ARE TOO DIFFICULT TO GET IN.
    NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE IN MBA.
ITS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET REPUTED MBA COLLEGE.

I WOULD SUGGEST YOU TO TRY FOR MBS ENTRANCE EXAM FIRST LIKE CAT.
MBA ENTRANCE TEST PREPARATION WOULD HELP YOU IN CIVIL SERVICE EXAM LIKE UPSC .
    SO FRST TRY FOR IT.
IF YOU GETTING IN A GOOD INSTITUTE THAN DONT WAIT TO GO FOR CIVIL SERVICE.
GETTING IN REPUTED MBA INSTITUTE IS ENOUGH TO GET A GOOD PAID AND A SATISFIED JOB.
AFTER APPEARING THE ENTRANCE TEST YOU WILL GET GENERAL IDEA OF HOW TO PROCEED FURTHER.

    ALL THE EBST

Since both fields are different from what you have studies till now.
civil service paves way for social service, also it is a very prestigious job due to its high social status.
MBA gives you a well settled life with six figure salary, green pastures, corporate life, but it has long working hrs.
So, go for what interest you most.

Its very difficult to compare civil services and MBA

Both are having there own career prospect.

If you are interested in Higher studies then i would be good if you opt MBA

But if you want to go for Civil services then it going to be very good option because if you qualify civil services exam then you get a government job.

But in the case of MBA you are not sure of whether you will get government job or private.

So now its on your interest what you want to do. Choose the option according to your interest and desire.

    All the Best...

First you can get the clear idea about your aim. The civil services examinations are more competetive exam. If you are interested in this field you can select this. If you are interested in the management field you can select that way. What is your interest you can select it.

i would suggest you to opt for the MBA

    1) you may write once you finish the MBA , if bot are your ambition then you should do first the MBA and then UPSC exam
    2) If you do MBA in correspondence you wont get value for that.
    3) More over after your MBA you will lot of high paying jobs as the golden opportunities
    4) When you at the final year of your MBA you may write for the civil services exam
    5) with the span of two years you can prepare more and will get more score in your civil service exam

    best luck

Entrance exam for both are conducted only one time in a year.

Civil service exam are conducted by UPSC while MBA entrance exam is conducted by various institutes.

For MBA you will hav eto arite CAT,XAT or MAT etc.

Both are good and give reputed job to you.

But civil service exam is quite tough than MBA entrance exam.

Firstly we talking about Civil Service exam-
Civil Service exam are held by UPSC-
These all exams are too tough to crack,.
If you have well preparation and you are hard worker then you can go with Civil Service exams.

    MBA-Master in business administration.=
MBA is Master degree course of 2 years and scopes in this field is in large scale..
There are many MBA entrance tests based on conducted Universities or Board-
You can take admission in MBA through-
    XAT
    GMAT
    CAT
    MAT etc. exams..
In my opinion you can go for both Civil Service and also for MBA ..and if you selected in Civil Service exam then do MBA with distance learning program..
    You can take it from-
LPU or Symbosis institute of distance learning..

    Hi friend,

It depends upon you interest and effort you can apply for exams .
If you want to join government jobs go for IAS Examination but it is is very competitive exam with respect to M.B.A or any other exam.
If you want to clear you have to put your best effort to get through.
If you want to join corp[orate sector choose M.B.A , but for this your communication skills must be very good.

    Good Luck...
