It is a must that the candidate should be postgraduates in any of the specified streams. Also it is must that the candidate should have secured above 55% in the same. There is no age limit to apply for this test. The chartered accountant course cannot be considered equivalent to postgraduation. It is a certification course. The same can be pursued after 12th standard. Even graduation is not required to do this course. However in the job market CA holds more value than even postgraduation course like M.Com.

Re: Is a Chartered accountant(36 year old) with 52% eligible to apply for NET Entrance exam or not?

No, as a chartered accountancy is not considered a post graduation degree, so a chartered accountant will not be able to appear for NET(National eligibility test)
or SET(state eligibility test) until and unless he or she has or her occupied a post graduation degree. So, it would not be possible for you to
directly appear for NET exam after completing your chartered accountancy.

The simple reason being that chartered accountancy is not qualifies as a post graduate course and it has been given the designation of a professional course.
This is a professional course that not only provides you with a handsome salary but also a very good reputation in the organisation. This is course that would give you a lot of
commercial knowledge and this is the reason that more and more of commerce students are nowadays opting for this course as their career destination.

In my opinion, the best course of action to go around would be be to first pursue a one year executive MBA from a reputed MBA college. The reason being that is a post graduate
degree and at the same time it is the shortest course that can be opted by a person in order to appear for NET or SET exam.

The other one positive point is that a person is directly eligible to pursue this one year mba program after completing his or her chartered accountancy as specified by the institute.
The institute of chartered accountants of India is the authority which is responsible for creating the provisions in this regard. So, in my opinion this is the best option for a
person who want to appear for this NET or SET exam.

    Hi friend !!!

    >>NET is the National level entrance examination in India conducted for only postgraduate candidates .
This examination is conducted for the students to qualify for admission in Ph.D research and/or University Level Teaching Jobs in India.

    >>The exam is commenced on Dec 24th 2011 .

    >>25th Oct 2011 is the Last date for Applying On-Line .
    >>31st Oct 2011 is the Last date for receiving the printout of online Application Form (2 copies), Attendance Slip (one copy) and Admission Card (one copy) at the respective test centre opted by the candidate (with fee receipt & category certificates) .

The Eligibility Criteria for NET Examinations 2011 is :

    >>Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Masterís Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test .
