    CBSE Group Mathematics Olympiad Exam

    The Central Board of Secondary Education conducts the CBSE Group Mathematics Olympiad Exam for selecting the toppers in Mathematics. The test is carried out for categorizing, encouraging, promoting and fostering the Mathematics talents of the aspirants. Those who clear the test can expect careers in the respective fields. The test is held every year, mostly in the month of December.

    Structure and Pattern of the Mathematics Olympiad Exam

    The test comprises of objective type and word problems according to the IXth Standard Mathematics syllabus. Aspirants should have detailed knowledge in progressions, geometry, algebra, probability and related topics so as to clear the test. The mode of instruction for the test will be English. The test will last for a time period of 3 hours.

    Qualification Criteria for the Mathematics Olympiad Exam

    Students studying in IX, X, XI and XII, who are toppers in Mathematics, can apply for the test. Aspirants who are studying in a CBSE affiliated school can only apply for the test. In addition, they are required to be bonafides of the school. Only 5 students from a school will be allowed to attend the test. Schools usually conduct screening tests for selecting the top aspirants who are qualified to attend the main test.

    Application Procedure of the Mathematics Olympiad Exam

    Selected candidates from each school should pay an amount of Rs. 35/- as entry fee for the test. They can remit the test fee to the Head of the institution in which they are studying. Details about each aspirant like name, name of father, birth date, institutional address, class, home address should be submitted to the State coordinator along with the test fee prior to the last date. Applicants should also attach an attested copy of the preceding years mark list along with the credentials. Mostly the application procedures are carried out in the months of October/ November.
