Ideally you must go in for a Masters course. The opportunities after it are more. If you wish to work right on completion of graduation then you have options like joining research institutes as trainee. Also candidates of this profile are needed in laboratories, food industry too. If you wish to go in for the teaching field you can appear for the SET exam. Along with that you will need to have a B.Ed degree too. You must try to pursue your Masters course along with the job. After Master course you will be able to appear for the CSIR exam for joining laboratories as research assistants. Also you can join as a lecturer if you clear the NET exam. You will also be able to take up a doctorate in the field too.

Re: Career options after B.Sc (Microbiology)?

B.Sc course in Microbiology is one of the most in demand courses at degree level. It offers lots of opportunity career wise for the candidates. After a B.Sc degree one can choose to go for a job or go for higher studies. Some of the higher studies courses are M.Sc. Honors in Microbiology, M.Sc. (Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics) etc. Ph.D. (Microbiology) and also Advance Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Microbiology are few other options at higher level of education. The job sector is also looking very prosperous for those who have done B.Sc in Microbiology. A Microbiologist can join R & D laboratories. There are many research organizations, pharmaceutical companies and chemical industries which recruit candidates from this field. Food and beverages industries are also another lucrative area.

I don't have any interest in microbiology. I joined it because it was the only course available in my town.
I want to change my career path.
    What options do I have?
Is there any scope in management field? Like, can I do MBA in hospital management, healthcare management etc. Are these good option?
Is there any possibility to enter into software/IT industry??

AS YOU HAVE ALREADY DECIDED YOUR STREAM BY SELECTING MICROBIOLOGY. THIS STREAM IS HAVING A VERY BRIGHT FUTURE BECAUSE THERE ARE LOTS OF THINGS WHICH HAVE TO BE DISCOVERED IN THE FIELD OF MICROBIOLOGY. SO, MY SUGGESTION FOR YOU IS JUST FORGET EVERYTHING AND GO FOR RESEARCH IN MICROBIOLOGY. FOR WHICH YOU HAVE TO QUALIFY A CSIR-NET/ DBT/ICMR EXAMINATION AFTER M.Sc. MICROBIOLOGY. GOOD LUCK.

    hi

    Career options after B.Sc (Microbiology)
you can go for job or master degree, but according to me I will suggest you of-course you should go for higher study, because your study subject has very demand in the time of recession market.

As you have a higher aim for doing the Ph.D,so go for M.Sc in Microbiology,so you should not choose MBA which is totally different way of your way.

There are so many colleges for completing the M.Sc degree in Microbiology.
    some of them are:

1:Baba Farid Institute Of Technology (BFIT)- Dehradun,Uttranchal.

    2:Beehive (PG) College - Dehradun,Uttaranchal

    3:Brindavan College - Bangalore,Karnataka.

    4:CMCE College - Bokaro Steel City,Jharkhand

    5.Jiwaji University - Gwalior,Madhya Pradesh etc....
Last of all I will say you that do the work what your mind wants to do.

    Good luck

career options for majority of your type of graduates have been very bleak.only a few, that too with relevant current demand PhD students have good salaries and a satisfactory job..for the rest, rewards do not match up to the hard work that has been put into getting the qualifications...only private labs, pharmaceuticals, and hospitals employ microbiologists..so your potential employer base is small..research has never paid well, and as far as bio tech is concerned...even fewer employers...for a male graduates, it will be difficult to maintain a family on the kind of wages that are dished out...sorry to be so negative...but its true....
