    IFS examination is conducted by the UPSC every year .The examination is done for selection of the interested candidates in the Indian forest service.

    Eligibility for the examination ::

    You must have passed your graduation in any of the following subjects Animal Husbandry /Veterinary Science/Botany/Chemistry/ Geology/ Mathematics/Physics/Statistics /Zoology or you must have got a Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering

    You should be between 21 to 30 years and there is some relaxation in the upper age limit is given to reserved caste students .For SC/ST the upper age limit is increased to 5 years and for OBC its increased to 3 years .

    Pattern of the examination ::The examination is done in two phases ::

    1.Written examination
    2.Interview or personality test

    1.Written exam ::It consists of total 6 papers and of total 1400 marks .

    Paper I::Its of General English and 300 marks.
    Paper II:: Its of General Knowledge and 300 marks
    Paper III::Optional Subject 1 (Paper 1) of 200 marks
    Paper IV::Optional Subject 1 (Paper 2) of 200 marks
    Paper V::Optional Subject 2 (Paper 1) of 200 marks
    Paper VI::Optional Subject 2 (Paper 2) of 200 marks

    So that means that you have to choose two optional subjects and on these two optional subjects there will be total 4 exams of the conventional type is done .Two papers on each optional subjects will be asked .

    2.Interview ::Its of total 300 marks .

    Question papers of all subjects of IFS are freely available at below link.
    there are question papers of all subjects to be downloaded freely.

    After opening the above page click on IFS and then from sub-menu select "exam papers" and from the next menu select the subject of which you want to download the papers.

    • Section 1 General English ( 300 marks.).
    • Section 2 General Knowledge (300 marks)
    • Section 3 Optional Subject ( 200 marks )
    • Section 4 Optional Subject ( 200 marks )
    • Section 5 Optional Subject ( 200 marks)
    • Section 6 Optional Subject ( 200 marks )
    Eligibility for IFS Exam
    • Candidate should be graduate from any recognized university.
    • Candidate should have age between 21 to 30 years only.

    Notification of Examination ->February/March
    Conduct of Examination ->July

    AGE LIMIT:21-30 Years on 1st July of the year of examination
    Relaxation in age for reserved categories.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1)You should have a Bachelorís graduation degree with at least one of the subjects namely, Animal Husbandry
    & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or
    a Bachelorís degree in Agriculture or Forestry or Engineering of a recognised university.

    2)If you are in the final year then also you are eligible for the Exam.

    THE SCHEME OF EXAMINATION:

    Paper I - General English 300 Marks
    Paper II - General Knowledge 300 Marks
    Paper III, IV, V & VI - Any two subjects to be selected from the list of optional subjects set out below. Each subject will have two papers. 200 Marks for each paper

    Total marks for written examination 1400 Marks
