    IAS Entrance Exam Syllabus 2012:-

    General Studies:- The question paper test your general awareness on variety of subjects, which will have relevance for a career in Civil Services. The questions more likely to test the your basic understanding of all relevant issues and ability to analyze, and take a view on conflicting socio-economic goals, objectives and demands. you must give relevant, meaningful and Brief answers.

    Essay:- you need write an essay on a specific topic. The selection of subjects will be given. you are expected to keep closely to the subject of the essay to arrange your ideas in orderly fashion, and to write meaningful. you will be benefited for your effective and exact expression.

    English Qualifying:- The pattern of questions would be:
    • Comprehension of given passages.
    • Precise Writing
    • Usage and Vocabulary
    • Short Essay
    Indian Language:-
    • Comprehension of given passages.

    The eligibility criteria for IAS is:

    1)A candidate must be an indian citizen.
    2)A candidate must be having a graduation degree in any field from any recognized university.
    3)A candidate appearing for the final year exams of graduation is also eligible to appear in the examinations.
    4)A candidate's age must be between 21 to 30 years.There is some relaxation in the age for the reserved
    categories

    For OBC it is 3 years
    For SC/ST it is 5 years.


    5)NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS:


    For general category students they have only 4 number of attempts.
    For OBC category students they have only 7 number of attempts.
    For SC/ST category students they have no limit on number of attempts.

    6)EXAMINATION:

    1)CSAT(CIVIL SERVICES APTITUDE TEST).
    2)MAINS
    3)INTERVIEW

    APPLICATION FORM:
    You can get the application form from the post office or you can also download it

    Those are qualify the preliminary round are called for the Main examination.After clearing the main examination are called for the Personal Interview.

    There is a lot of books are available for the preliminary examination.So buy the books prepare yourself.

    Firstly I have to Informed you that the IAS Examination was Conducted by UPSC every year and to become IAS Officer you need to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination.

    >> The examination was Held Every year and To apply for This examination you need to be a graduate in any discipline form a recognised university, Final year graduate candidates are also eligible To apply for this examination.

    >> So, if your age should between 21 to 30 years, Only then you are eligible to apply to apply for this examination. The Upper age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC and other reserved Category Candidates.     The main written examination usually takes place in Oct-Nov, it comprises of 9 papers in all . Duration of each paper is 3 hrs.

    Language: one of the Indian languages, English, Essay GK and Current Affairs: 2 papers on general studies

    Optionals: papers from two subjects that fall in optional-1 and two papers from optional-2 (a choice of subjects is listed by the UPSC in the prospectus) who are successful in the main examinations are eligible for an interview which plays a crucial part in the selection.

    To become a IAS officer,you should apply for civil service exam and should clear the exam with good rank.Civil service exam is conducted by union public service commission every year once to take qualified students into different service post in government sector.

    To eligible for civil service exam,then you should have minimum completed or appearing for final exam of graduation degree with any stream from a recognized university and your age should be between 21 to 30 years.

    Civil service exam consist of Preliminary exam and Main exam.Preliminary exam notification released on 11th Feb 2012,closes on 8th March 2012 and exam will held on 20th May 2012.Main exam will held on 15th Oct 2012.

    IAS stands for Indian Administrative Service, you want to become an IAS officer first you need to apply for the UPSC civil services examination.

    This examination is conducted by the UPSC in every year, the examination is in two stages.

    1. Preliminary examination.

    Your age should be between 21 years to 30 years. The age relaxation is applicable for the sc/st/obc as per government rules.
