    Mechanical Engineering students are definitely allowed for IES exam.IES exam is conducted by UPSC once a year.You can join after clearing the exam to the following posts---------
    1) Indian Railway Service of MECHANICAL Engineers.

    2) Indian Railway Stores Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

    3) Central Water Engineering (Gr. A) Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

    4) Central Power Engineering Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

    5) Indian Ordinance Factories Service.

    6) Indian Naval Armament Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

    7) Assistant Executive Engineer Group A (Mechanical Engineering Posts) in the Corps of EME, Ministry of Defense.

    8) Assistant Naval Store officer Grade I (Mechanical Engineering Posts) in Indian Navy.

    9) Central Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Service (Mechanical Engineering Posts)

    10) Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) (Mechanical Engineering Posts) in Boarder Roads Engineering Service, Group A

    11) Drilling Engineer (Junior) (Grade A) in the Geological Survey of India.

    12) Indian Inspection Service, Gr.A (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

    13) Indian Supply Service, Gr.A (Mechanical Engineering Posts).

    Yes my dear friend you are definitely eligible to appear in Indian engineering services(IES)
    examination. Indian engineering services are the top services of the goverment of India
    into which tha candidates are recruited in the various managerial and engineering cadre of
    the various departments like Railways, Power, Road and bridges construction , Railway
    telecommunications etc. The IES exams are held to recruit candidates under four categories
    which are Mechanical engineering, Electronics and communication engineering, Civil engineering,
    and Electrical engineering.Under these categories there are various posts in Group A and Gruop B
    services and posts.
    The eligibility for appearing in IES entrance examination is that you must have achieved 21 years
    of age, which is the minimum age limit to appear in the IES exams. Also you must have compleated
    your Bachelors degree in engineering from a recognised institute on India. You are also eligible
    if you have cleared Section A and Section B examinations of AMIE. As you have done Bachelors degree
    in Mechanical engineering , you are also eligible for applying in this examination.

    for IES

    it is very important exam for

    mechanical engineers,

    they genarlly want to get govt.

    job ,so for their IES is a most

    comptiting exams.................

    Yes mechanical engineering students are eligible for IES examination.
    The civil,mechanical,electrical and electronics and telecommunication students are eligible for this exam.
    Age limit:
    21 years to 30 years .

    The eligibility criteria for applying in the IES is
    Engineering degree in
    1)mechanical engineering
    2)electronics and telecommunication engineering
    3)civil engineering
    4)electrical engineering
    age limit-21 to 30 years
    It is considered to be one of the toughest exams in India and amongst the toughest exam in the world,so you will have to work hard in order to achieve a place in the IES,just to give you an idea in 2012 in total 150,000 candidates(aprrox) applied for IES for only 400(approx) seats,so you must have got the idea about the difficulty of this exam.

    And for this exam age limit is 21 - 30 years .

    And also

    civil,

    Mechanical,

    Electrical and electronics

    And telecommunication students are eligible for this exam.

    Yes Mechanical branch candidates are eligible for IES examination .

    For writing IES Examination the candidates must have Bachelor Degree in Engineering .

    The candidates must have completd Engineering in following branches :
    Civil Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering .
    Age limit :
    The candidates age must be between 21 years to 30 years.

    The examination Notifications were released on UPSC official website .
    www.upsc.gov.in .
