Re: Can a M.Sc Geoinformatics student appear UGC/NET Exam?

UGC NET exam is usually conducted in broad science streams, there are 6 streams - chemical science, physical science, mathematical, life and earth science. These streams broadly cover all the science related courses and subjects. As you have a qualification in geoinformatics, you can write your UGC NET exam in earth science, which will cover geography related core courses and branched courses like geoinformatics. This is similar to students who have Msc in microbiology and biochemistry appearing for UGC NET exam in life science. From June 2011, there is some change in the exam pattern for UGC NET exam - three sections now. First section will test your general science awareness and research aptitude, second section on your subject areas and third section is a high value section which gauges your subject knowledge at a deeper level.

UGC National Eligibility Test is generally carried out in broad science streams. There are mainly six science streams. This includes chemistry, physic, math, life and earth science. All the above mentioned streams cover most of the science associated course and subjects. With M.sc in Geo-informatics you can appear in the UGC NET exam in earth science. This branch will wrap up geography and related subjects. The UGC NET exam contains 3 sections. The 1st section will include awareness in general science and research aptitude. The 2nd section deals with the core subject. In the 3rd section questions from subject at a deeper level will be asked.
