Re: Can I write IAS exam after diploma?

Nice to see Bhavna that you want to become Indian Administrative Officer, your decision is appreciable. I will provide you all the necessary information regarding IAS, so that you will not face any problem. To become IAS, you have to apply for the UPSC Civil services examination, this examination is conducted in two stages, i.e preliminary and Mains. First you have to appear and cracked the preliminary, only then you are eligible for Mains.

To apply for this examination, you need graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized University. Diploma candidates are not eligible for this examination. So if your graduation is complete then definitely you are eligible, But if you have just complete diploma then sorry to say you are not eligible for UPSC Civil services examination.

To apply for this examination age should between 21 to 30 years, upper age relaxation is applicable for sc/st/obc candidates. The notification published every year in February and preliminary examination will be conducted in May. There are two papers in preliminary and both are objective and you need to cracked both one.

This examination is not easy, the selection rate is very low. So you need hard work to cracked this examination. The details of this examination is properly mentioned in the notification, for more details you can also read previous notification just for getting more details. So i already tell you that graduation is needed to apply for this examination. If you do not have graduate degree then you are not eligible for more details check UPSC website.

    Hey friend,

The IAS exam is conducted for candidates to join in as a IAS officer but only for candidates who are a Degree Holder.

It is notified that the education qualification needed for the IAS exam, is that the candidate appearing for the exam must have completed a degree from a recognized university and that should be with a fair percentage. There is nothing to be regarded about the degree which you must finish as there is nothing specific.

Being a Diploma Holder you don't stand by a chance to apply for the IAS exam as per the education qualification needed as you are not satisfying it.

There are other criteria's along with the education qualification which are needed to be satisfied and they are:

    > The Nationality standard for the exam states that the candidate appearing for the exam must be a Citizenship in India.

    > The candidate must have 21-30 years for general category candidates. There are certain upper age relaxation for other category candidate.

If you are going to satisfy these criteria's then you can apply for the IAS exam and the candidates are selected for the exam in 3 stages such as:

    >> Preliminary Exam

    >> Main Exam

    >> Interview
