Re: Can I write bank entrance exams while pursuing first year B.Com(Accounting and Finance) course?

Institute of Banking Personnel Services (IBPS) hold two kind of bank exams every year so as to recruit bank personnel of clerical and PO cadres.

The eligibility criteria for both the exams are different.

    >>> Presently, you are only eligible for writing Clerical exam and are not eligible for PO exam.

The reason for your eligibility to ONLY clerical exam can be explained by discussing the eligibility criteria for both the exam:

    ## Eligibility criteria/ Qualification requirement for Clerical Exam:

*a minimum of 60% of marks have to be secured by a +2 pass-out
*for SC/ST candidates the percentage requirement is securing a minimum of 55% of marks
*the age limit for open category candidates is 18-28 years of age
*Upper limit relaxations are provided to minorities
*a final year student can also apply

    ## Qualification Requirement for PO exam:

*a candidate must secure a minimum of 55% of marks in one's stream of graduation
*final year students can also apply
*For banks like SBI, the minimum percentage requirement for open category candidates is 65% and 60% for other castes
*the age limit for open category candidates is 21-30 with relaxation of 3 and 5 years to OBC and SC/ST candidates respectively.

Hence, you can only apply for clerical exam, as presently you are into the 1st year of graduation and once you get into the final year, you can approach for PO exam.
