i think its better if u continue machenica only in m.tech as u already have the knowledge and u are specialised in it...u will be more comfortable ahead in the future and u will get better job prospects...

and the machenical engg has a great scope:
It has a tremendous scope in automobile engineering, cement industry, steel, power sector, Hydraulics, Manufacturing plants, Drilling and mining Industry, Petroleum, Aeronautical, Biotechnology and many more. With its wide scope of application, mechanical engineers remain always in demand, no matter which part of the world. You can also find job very easily in the following public sector industries such as Indian Railways, Indian Air force (Technical), Indian Army, Thermal power corporations etc…

    all the best...

    hello guest
You have opted for a good subject Mechanical Engineering in your graduation, Now a days Mechanical has much scope than any other sectors... there is no up's and down's in the industry. So i Recommend you to take Mechanical As your Subject in M-tech. Civil engineering also possess lots of career opportunities. Never put your leg on two boats. Just stand on a Boat which you are , this will lead you to success. Mechanical engineering has good scopes in future and which will lead you the right way. So i Recommend you to stick to Mechanical. As you are Saying hat you have 6 years experience in Civil area, choose a best course that you like, make good decision but think before take a good step.

    Good luck

    Hi dear friend,
Its possible that a mechanical engineer will get job in civil field because of some common topics between the two fields,
But this will not allow you to get a M TECH course in civil engineering, its not possible at all.
You have to take any Mechanical field only during M Tech.
Take a field which may help your career.
    All the best...!!
