NDA exam is conducted for selecting candidates in to different wings in defense sector. You can apply to Indian Army after 12th class in commerce stream. Only male candidates can apply for this exam. You should be at least 16.5 years of age to attend this exam. Also those who are applying for NDA should not be above 19 years. The selection will be through NDA exam conducted by UPSC. Those who clear written examination have to attend physical test and personal interview.

If you have completed your 12Th examination with commerce subject then you are only eligible for Army wings of NDA, Because for Naval and Air force wings of NDA, you have to complete your 12Th examination with Maths and Physics as a compulsory subjects and you are from Commerce stream, then you can only apply for Army wings of NDA.

Only Unmarried male candidates are eligible for NDA Examination, but for this your age should between 16.5 to 19 years, Your age should not be more than 19 years at the time of commencement of Training, otherwise you cant apply for NDA Examination.

The selection in NDA Examination is based on Written test followed by SSB Interview and Medical test and those who cracked all these stages are eligible for NDA Training.

The Notification of NDA Examination will be Published twice in a year in the employment Newspaper or in the UPSC Website. Eligible candidates may fill the application form online only. There is no application form facility from this year onward's. Before filling the online application form of NDA, you must have these documents with you :

These 2 documents are necessary for complete the registration Process.

To appear for NDA, you must be in good physical and mental health andfree from any disease.


NDA Examination is comprises of a Written Exam followed by and Intelligence and Personality Test, The written exam consist of two papers. The General Ability Test consists of : English and General Knowledge. the papers in all the subjects consist of Objective type questions only

Yes.you can apply for NDA after 12th without maths.but you can join only Army or Naval wing.If you want to join Airforce,then maths is necessary.

Education qualification:
If you desire to join the Army wing of the NDA must have a pass in class 12 or its equal from any subject stream. The certification must be from a recognized board or university. Those who aspire to join the Naval Wing and the Air Force must have a pass in class 12 in science.

Yes you can join NDA after if you have taken COMMERCE STREAM without MATHEMATICS but in the NDA exam you have to appear in the MATHEMATICS exam.

You will not be exempted from the MATHEMATICS EXAM in the NDA exam. It is compulsory for everyone to appear in the MATHEMATICS exam even if you haven't taken MATHEMATICS subject in the 12th class.

Yes, you can, but with some constraints.

National Defence Academy (NDA) takes up candidates through an exam held every year end.
It accepts candidates for three Defence Sectors:
1. Indian Army
2. Indian Navy
3. Indian Air Force

According to your mentioned educational background you are qualified to take NDA exam this year only for the Army wing.
Because Army wing applications require candidates with +2 pass in any stream.
Whereas, the other two wings, i.e; Naval and Air Force wing accept candidature with Science background in +2.

Hence, think wisely, you are eligible for one of the three wings.

Qualification wise you are eligible for NDA examination but
you do not satisfy the age criteria of NDA examination.
So, you can not apply for NDA examination anymore.

After completing your +2(Science) with Physics and Maths, you can join NDA by taking the exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India. Advertisement for the exam is released by UPSC in March and October every year.

Age requirement is between 16 ½ to 19 years.

You need to be an Indian.

You are eligible for the exam as regarding th education qualification needed for the NDA Exam.There are several other standards which you need to satisfy.

Yes you can apply for NDA examination being a commerce stream student.
But you can join only Indian Military only .as for Airforce and Naval Accademy you must have studied physics ,chemistry and mathematics and class 10 +12th.


NDA has three wings .UPSC every years two times conduct examination for Joining NDA.

Your English speaking should be fluent and strong.
As many students qualify the examination but failed in interview time due to unfluents in English subject.

After completion of 12th with any of the stream,you can go for NDA but your marks should be greater than 60% under some recognized university.

You should be Indian and you should be physically fit and note that girls are not eligible for NDA;Only the unmarried males are eligible for NDA.
