Well you have to apply for the merchant navy on the basis of 12 since there is no jobs in the merchant navy for the CSE students. You can apply for these courses .

Eligibility:You must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English

    B.E Marine Engineering

yes you can join merchant navy after 3rd year, but the thing is you could have done it right after XII. leaving your graduation in the middle wont get you a graduation certificate also.
so think wisely before you go for it, take the right decision.

    well wishes.

Re: Can I join in Merchant Navy after completing B.Tech 3rd year in CSE branch?

Yes, you can join merchant navy.

Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialized fields, i.e. Marine Engineering and Nautical (deck). To become a seafarer, following streams of entries (Pre-Sea courses) are available to you:

2 year course for Diploma Holders.
1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers.

In addition, a candidate can join as utility hand or Petty Officers (Fitters) after completing 4 Basic Courses, i.e. FPFF, EFA, PSSR and PST.

Apart from doing a course for marine engineering or nautical science, you can also join Merchant Navy through direct entry. You may join as engine cadet/ fifth engineer/ junior engineer and can get promotion later by writng a probationary exam arranged by the Directorate general of shipping. Being a direct entry, you will need to go for a pre-sea course for nine months. But it will be better to take up a degree in marine engineering or Nautical science for a better prospect in Merchant Navy.

Govt training Institutes : There are four Government Training Institutes providing Pre-Sea and Post-Sea training of international standard :

    i. Training Ship Chanakya, Navi Mumbai.
ii. Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Kolkata.
iii. Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI), Mumbai.
iv. Lal Bahadur Shastri College of advanced Maritime Studies and Research, Mumbai.

Re: Can I join in Merchant Navy after completing B.Tech 3rd year in CSE branch?

There are two sides in merchant through which a candidate can join merchant navy .
One side is deck side and other is engine side .If you want to come from deck side
then you should have bechalor degree in B.Sc nautical science .
You can join merchant navy after completing B.Sc nautical science .
if you want to come from engine side then you should have B.Tech in marine engineering or
in mechanical engineering . There are various institute which offers these courses
here i am giving the list of some institute which offers these courses which are as follows :-
    1]Tolani maritime institute
    2] Manet
    3]T.S Chanakya
    4]Rahaman
    5]IMU
    6]IMI
    7]SIMS
So choose any one institute of your choice and get degree and get job in merchant navy .
Sorry my dear you are not eligible for Merchant Navy because you have
completed your B.Tech from computer science and generally merchant navy
does not require computer science engineer .So my friend you are not eligible for the same .
Bur don't worry there are various jobs available in computer field .
You can apply their and may be you get good job .
    So best of luck .
