CDS stands for Combined Defence Academy and this Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission for every twice in a year .

Academic Qualification:

Graduates in any discipline from a recognized university or BE/B.Tech degree from a recognized university are applicable for CDS exam.

You can get into defense services through CDSE

CDSE - Combined Defense Service Exam

But you will be eligible for OTA.

Officer Training Academy(OTA) Exam:

>> Your age should be in between 19 to 25 years
>> You should have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university
>> You should be unmarried male Or female

Selection process :

Written Test
Intelligence & Personality test
Medical test

For OTA :

All the two papers are of objective type containing;
>> English
>> General Knowledge
Totally for 200 marks,each paper is of 100 marks.

ii)Intelligence & Personality test :Generally here checks the Personality of the candidate,GD,group planning, physical fitness test, interview, small lectures on general issues & psychological tests. etc...

iii)Medical test.
After getting selected in interview ,the candidates are called for medical examination which is conducted by Military Hospitals.

Pre-Commission training After getting final selected the candidates are called for Training.

The UPSC conducts this CDSE twice a year — in February and August/September — to admit cadets to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, and the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.



So, you can get into defense only through OTA

Yes off course you can join Indian Army being a female science graduate.Actually Indian Army can be joined by both males as well as females
after completing their graduation from any discipline, it does not matters.So, any candidate who has completed his or her graduation from any discipline
can appear for various examinations conducted for this purposes for example CDS(Common defense examinations), OTA, SSC(Short service
commission), etc.So, you can apply for any of these examinations and after a session of physical training you would be given the requisite certificate.

As a girl,though you are not eligible for NDA but there is no need to worry because


the Girls can join INDIAN ARMY through other entries called

• CDS(Common Defence Services)
• TGC(Technical Graduate Course)
• AFMC(Armed Forced Medical College)

The Girls after clearing the CDS exam will join OTA for the Training and After clearing the AFMC,Girls have to join AFMC,pune.

The Girls can also be a pilot in INDIAN AIR FORCE.

So friend you must first complete graduation in any stream to join INDIAN ARMY through OTA and after clearing CDS exam and SSB you will be called for the admission.

Now,let me introduce you about CDS:-

CDS stands for Combined Defence Academy and the exam for CDS is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) twice a year.
Through CDS,you can go for:-
1.Air force Academy.
2.Navy Academy.

There is an age limit for CDS.

Educational qualifiation required are:-

For Indian Military Academy/Officer's Training Academy:- You have to complete your Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University,
Final year appearing candidates are also eligible for this examination.

For Naval and Air force Academy:- You have to complete your Graduate degree course with Maths and Physics as a compulsory subjects or you must have complete your Engineering degree course from a recognized University .

After you qualify the written examination,you will be called for an interview and medical test.

The next CDS (II) exam is going to be held on 16th September,2012.

The last date of receipt of applications is 27 August,2012.

But,since you can't appear for the exam this time,prepare well for the next exam.
