    Can I be an IAS officer after completing B.Tech IT course in my graduation? Is it true that an IT Graduate is not eligible for Civil Service exam?

    can i be an ias officer after taking information technology(b-tech) to do my graduation.
    i have been informed that an it graduate cannot apply for civil services exam.
    please guide me on this its urgent

    Dear brother,
    First of all you need to know about the 2nd greatest exam in India(1st is CAT) is Civils...Any one can appear for civils who did a degree...and it can be from any stream even the aspirants having distance degree also can appear...so dont bother about this criteria..you can write civils with your qualification...All the best brother...

    Age limits :21-30 years as on 1.7.2011.


    Educational Qualifications :-Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification .

    No. of permissible attempts :-Four (Seven attemps of OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs

    Fee :Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only)(No fee for SCs/STs/Physically disabled only)

    The eligibility for IAS exam is as follows:
    -Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
    -Age limit: 21-30yrs.

    So,you are eligible for IAS exam.

    Yes you can.
    Even after doing BTech in IT branch,
    Here is eligibility to appear in the IAS exam-
    Age-
    Must be 21 to 30 upper age relaxation to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per as govt rules.

    Qualification -
    Minimum qualification required to appear in the IAS exam is Bachelor's Degree.

    So i think you full fill these condition so you are Surely eligible.

    No it is not true that hat an IT Graduate is not eligible for Civil Service exam.
    All Branches candidates are eligible to appear in Civil Service exam.

    You are eligible to appear in IAS examination.
    and the information obtained by if incorrect as UPSC doesn't specify that students belonging IT (Information technology) are not eligible.

    Indian Administrative Service(IAS) exam is provided under Civil Service Examination conducted by Union public service commission (UPSC).

    Students interested in Civil services exam have to successfully clear two Examination to get into the job-
    1. Civil service Preliminary examination
      • For upcoming year, It's going to be conducted on 20.05.2012
    2. Civil service Main Examination
      • It's commenced on 05.10.2012

    Eligibility Required :-
    • Must be a citizen of India or a refuge from neighboring country.
    • You must hold a degree in any specialization from any of recognized Universities.
    • Candidate in final year whose results are awaiting are also eligible.
    • Age-limits are 21-30 years as on 1st August, 2012.

    No. of permissible attempts :
    • Four attempts for Candidates belonging to General Category
    • Seven attempts for OBCs and P.H.
    • and no limit for SCs/STs.

    Fee :-
    • Rs. 100/- (Rupees hundred only) only.
    • No fee for Females/SCs/STs/Physically disabled

    Eligibility for IAS:

    Age limits:

    21-30 years.Upper age limit relax able for SC/Sts ,OBCs certain other categories

    Educational qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree of a recognized university with at least one of the subjects namely animal husbandry & veterinary science,Botany,Chemistry,Geology,Mathematics,Physi cs,Statistics and zoology or a bachelor's degree in agricultural,Forestry or in engineering or an equivalent qualifications.

    No.of permissible attempts:
    Four for general candidates,
    seven for OBCs
    No limit for SC/ST
    So you are eligible for IAS exam.

    Dear friend,
    Yes my friend you can become a IAS.As you have done your graduation in IT then also it doesn't matter.As IT is a recognized branch now.
    But you cann't apply for IES exam.
    For IAS ypu have to appear fro CSAT exam,conducted by UPSC.

    Eligibility for CSAT exam is follows:

    1.You must be at least 21 years of age at the time of filling the Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam form and not more than 30 years of age,33 for OBCs and 35 for SCs/STs

    2.Four attempts for open, seven for OBCs and no limit for SCs/STs.

    3.You must have a graduate degree in any discipline of any of the Universities recognized by UGC or other declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.

    4.Candidates who are in the final semester or have taken their final degree exam but are awaiting the results can also appear for the IAS Preliminary examination provided they furnish their proof of degree while filling the Mains form.

    Procedure:

    1.There are two exams (1)pre -exam,which includes general aptitude questions and awareness questions.

    2.If you clear this exam then you will be allowed to appear for main exam,which will be related to your choosen subjects,essay writing.

    3.If you clear this exam then you will be called for interview.

    After that merit list will be out.Its a process of 1 -1/2 years

    & the Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories .

    Yes you are eligible to apply for the IAS exam which is to be conducted every year. This exam is to be conducted by the upsc. The qualification required for the IAS is graduation degree from any recognised degree and age should not exceeded 40 years.     Friend,

    Yes you are eligible for the IAS exams and every candidate who has completed or appearing for the final year exams is eligible for the exam if he/she falls in the age criteria of your category specified below.

    This exam is conducted by UPSC every year.The notification for this exam comes out in the month of January and the exam is conducted in the month of June and mains in the month of September.

    The Eligibility criteria for the IAS is:


    1)A candidate need to be a graduate in any field from any recognized university.

    2)A candidate must be an INDIAN CITIZEN.

    3)A candidate's age must be between 21 to 30 years.

    4)There is a relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.

    5)The candidate's in their final year are also eligible for the exam but they have to submit their original certificates when they will be joining.

    6)Number of attempts: There is some restrication on the number of attempts according to the category.

    For SC/ST there is no limit on number of attempts.
    For OBC A candidate has 7 number of attempts.
    For Genreal category we have 4 number of attempts.

    7)FEES:There is also difference in the fees for the application form.
    • General category student has to pay 100Rs for the application form.
    • For reserved there is no fees for the application form.

    Hi friend

    The source of your information is wrong.
    You are eligible.

    The educational qualification is a graduation in any discipline.
    Your age must be 21 to 30.
    There is a relaxation of 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST.

    IAS Exam has three stages Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and an Interview.

    Dates:

    Date of Notification:-19 Febraury 2011

    Last date for receipt of applications:- 21 March 2011

    Date of Commencement and its duration:- 12 June 2011
