India conducts National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (shortly called NDA exam) to recruit candidates to the Army, Navy and the Air force wings of the National Defence Academy (NDA).
The course of training is for three years.

The Eligibility Criteria levels are like :

Candidate must be an unmarried male.

12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates must be physically fit according to the prescribed physical standards.
Candidates between the age of 16.5 to 19 years are eligible to apply for NDA Examination .

So as per the above statements , you do not satisfy them as a Girl !

You can apply for Indian Air Force , Merchant Navy , etc and many more other than NDA and Indian Army .

National Defence Academy eam is a national level exam. It is conducted by the union public service commission twice a year for the entry in to the national defence academy for the training in the defence areas of the country. The defence areas that it covers include the army, airforce and the naval wings of the Indian defence sector. TO be eligible for the exam one has to fulfill the following eligibility criterias:
*you have to be an Indian national
*YOU HAVE TO BE A MALE UNMARRIED CANDIDATE AND YOU CANNOT MARRY EVEN DURING THE TRAINING
*you have to be 16.5 to 19 years of age approximately while applying for the exam
*you have to be a 10+2 pass or appearing candidate if you want to enter the army wing and a science non medical stream pass or appearing candidate if you want to get into the Indian airforce or the navy.

so that means you being sa girl cannot join the Indian Defence services through the NDA exam. but dont be disheartened a there is one chance for the females to get in to the Indian defence services through the Combined defence services exam conducted every year for the entry into the defence for the graduates in different disciplines.
for the females there is a wing called as the ssc non technical entry in the CDS exam. To be eligible for this you have to be a female unmarried candidate or a non remarried widow or a divorcee with the relevant documents in hand. you must be born not earlier than the 2nd july 1989 and not later than 1st july 1993. Also let me tell you that through this wing of the CDS you can enter into the nontechnical branches only that means you cannot apply for the post of engineer in any wing of defence.
If you want to be an engineer in the Indian Air force then you need to apply for the AFCAT exam of the Indian airforce Academy only after completing your bachelor of engineering or aeronautical engg or bachelor of technology. Also you must get atleast 60 percent to be eligible for both the CDSE and the AFCAT.

The last date to apply for the CDS is 28th november 2011 and the exam will be conducted in the month of february.
Regarding te AFCAT, the notice will come in january for the march exam and in june or july for the august exam for which you can apply.
