    Hello there,

    Yes, you can definitely appear for Civils being from a medical background.
    The per-requisites for the exam are that
    >you should have completed your graduation(min 3 yrs) from a recognized university(Even final years can take the exam but make sure that you have your certificate ready before the prelims results are out)
    >You should be aged between 21-30 years of age.

    Being from medical background you have the option of picking subjects from your our stream such as...medical sciences, Zoology, Pediatrics,
    genetics... etc.

    Yes you can apply for IPS exam after your Medical course .

    IPS is one of among the post which come under Civil service`s.

    IPS stands for Indian Police Service.

    To become IPS officer you need to apply for Civil service exam.

    Civil service exams are conducted by UPSC.

    UPSC stands for Union Public Service Commission.

    To apply for Civil service exam:-
    • You need to have completed your Garduation from a recognized university.
    • Your age should not be less than 21 (or) not more than 30 years.
    • If you belong to SC/ST then age criteria is 21-35 and for OBC it is 21-33.

    The exam is conducted in 2 stages:-

    1)Preliminary and

    • General candidates have 4 attempts.
    • OBC candidates have 7 attempts.
    • SC/ST candidates hae no limit.
    • For apply for this exam you need to citizen of INDIA.

    If your course is equivalent to Graduation degree course then you are applicable for IPS exam.

    INDIAN POLICE SERVICE, to become an IPS officer you have to crack Civil Service Examination conducted by UPSC every year. There is no specific exam for IPS.

    Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IPS exam.

    But your age should be in between 21-30years for general candidate.
    In IPS exam their is provide age relaxation for OBC candidate is 3years and for SC/ST candidate is 5 years.

    The maximum attempts for Sc/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.
    Also you must be citizen of India.

    Physical qualifications

    Male 165 cm Pahari Male
    ST (not the SC/ OBC) 160 cm

    Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm.

    Eye sight
    6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye. Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye. The correction is by lenses only. High standard for the Colour-blind test. No inherent night blindness. Vision should stereoscopic.

    Blood pressure
    (High) Age 23 123, age 24 124, age 25 122, age 28 124, age 30 125, age 32 126, age 34 127.

    - good listening & normal ear cavity. 1000 to 4000 frequency hearing impairment shd not be more than 30 decibels.

    - candidate should not stammer while speaking.

    Yes you can appear for the IPS Examination after completing your Medical course of study as the candidates who had completed the Graduation in any of the streams of study are eligible for the Examination of the IPS examination.........
    Indian Police Services are one of the civil services examination which are conducted by the UPSC and this examination is one of the prestigious examinations which are conducted for the selected candidates,the examination is one of the toughest examinations when compared to all the Competitive examinations,and the candidates who are of the Intelligent brains of the India will only be selected for the IPS Examinations.............
    There are some other eligibility criteria which must be followed in order to appear for the Civil services examinations such as

    Eligibility criteria:
    *Age limit-
    You must have attained the age of 21 years and must not exceed the age of 30 years for appearing to the civil services examinations such as the IAS/IPS
    *Educational Qualifications-
    Bachelor Degree candidates in any of the streams of study are eligible for the examination and the candidates who are in the finale year of the Graduation are also eligible for the Examination......
    Candidates who wish to appear for the Examination must be the citizens of the India.
    *Number of attempts-
    There are fixed number of attempts to be made and they are
    General Candidates-4
    SC/ST- no limit
    These are the general Eligibility criteria which must be followed in order to appear for the IPS Examinations.............

    Yes You Can Become

    For Indian Police Service ,you must be citizen of India.

    Age limits :

    You must have attained the age of 21 Yrs and must not Attained the age of 30 Yrs on 1st August,2012.

    The Upper age limit will be Applicable for SC/ST and OBC candidates.

    Upto a maximum Five Years for Scheduled caste and Scheduled tribes.

    Upto a Maximum three years for Other Backward Classes.

    Education Qualification :

    You must hold a Bachelor's degree of any Recognized University.

    If you are in the final year of a degree course can also Eligible.

    Number of Attempts :

    Four Attempts for Open.

    Seven Attempts for OBC category.

    No Limit for SC/ST.

    Physical Fitness Is very Important for IPS Exam.

    Male 165 Cm Pahari Male (General also) & ST (Not SC/OBC) - 160 Cm.

    Female 150 Cm Pahari female (General also) & ST (Not SC/OBC) - 145 Cm.

    you don't give full information that which type of your medical course.
    don't worry i give you eligibility criteria for IPS -

    you must have a bachelors degree from a recognized university.
    your age must between 21 - 30 year .
    SC/ST- 5 year
    OBC -3 year


    GEN. - 4
    OBC - 7
    SC/ST - no limit
