    Hey friend,

For becoming charted accountant you must write the CA CPT exam which is a common proficiency test. The eligibility needed for the exam is that the candidate must have finished his/her respected +2 from a recognized board. The candidates who have registered for Professional Education-I Course with Board of Studies of ICAI and changed to CPT course are also eligible to apply.

The candidates must secure at least a minimum of 50 percent marks in the aggregate of all the four subjects / sections to get passed. There will be negative marking in the exam and the candidates will get a deduction of 1/4 th mark for every wrong answer.

The exam will be held on 4 subjects namely Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. The test is for 200 marks. This test is divided into two sessions of two hours each. The exam will be a objective type paper.Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is open only to those students who are already registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Thank you and all the best.

The Chartered Accountancy course has three stage

    CPT
    IPCC
    FINAL

The minimum qualification requiered to enrol for CPT is 10th pass but, you may appear for CPT exam only once you complete your higher secondary 12th.

The minimum eligibility for enroling in IPCC programme in either CPT passed or graduation passed from a recognized university. There is no minimum passing percentage and hence, you have only passed your graduation make you eligible for enroling yourself in IPCC programme.

Students who have completed thier graduation gets exemption from first stage CPT.

Since, you have completed your graduation you also becomes eligible for exemption and you may apply directly for IPCC programme. Subject criteria is not needed. Hence, a graduate from commerce field like B.Com are best eligible for CA course.
