If you want to join defense forces then yes you can appear for defence forces after completing your 12th in commerce stream.

For joining defense forces after 12th you have to appear for NDA exam conducted by UPSC two times a yr.As you had commerce in 12th class so you can appear only for army not for air-force and navy.

1. NDA/NA examintion

It is conducted Twice a year ..
In month of April as NDA/NA -I
In month of August as NDA/NA-II

Eligibility required (Army) :--
Only unmarried male candidates are eligible
Age must be in between 16 (1/2) years to 19 years.
Applicant should have passed 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination.

2. Soldier Clerk / Store Keeper Technical:-

Eligibility Required :-
Candidate must have passed 10+2/Intermediate exam pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with 50% marks in aggregate and min 40% in each subject

Age limit must be in between 17(½) yrs to -23 yeras.

Yes off course you can apply for defense just after completing your higher secondary but there are only limited options for you as for applying for other positions
you need to have a minimum graduation degree.These options can be explained as follows:
1)NDA(National defense academy)-
You can apply for this examination as the minimum qualification for applying for this exam is to have a 10th standard degree and so you are eligible to appear
for this exam.Only unmarried male candidates can apply for the same and you should be between 16.5 to 19.5 years of age.

2)The second option is that you can apply for the position of jawan. There are various other positions which are offered to a candidate within this cadre.
So, they are the various positions in army for which you can apply.
Apart from that there are several other positions for example mayor, lieutenant, etc for which the minimum qualification is to have a graduation degree from recognised
university.
