    Yes you can appear for IAS exam .

    ELIGIBILITY:-

    You must be Indian citizen.
    You must have completed your graduation from recognized university.
    A candidate passing his/her graduation from technical course is also eligible to apply.
    Final year candidate can also apply for the exam.
    only passing mark is required to apply in the exam.
    Candidate must not have any pending backlogs.
    Candidate's age should not be less than 21 years & not more than 30 years.
    Upper age relaxation is available to SC/ST, OBC candidates.
    For SC/ST 5 years of age relaxation is there & for OBC 3 years of age relaxation is available.
    Number of attempts for open category is 4, it is 7 for OBC & unlimited for SC/ST candidates.

    EXAM PATTERN:-

    1)Preliminary exam
    2)Main exam
    3)Interview

    If you have completed your Graduate degree course in any discipline from a recognised University, then you are eligible to become IAS Officer. To become IAS, you must hold a degree of any of Universities. Those who have a professional and technical qualifications recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees are also apply for IAS Examination.

    To become IAS, you have to cracked the UPSC Civil services examination. This examination is Conducted by UPSC Every year in 2 stages : Preliminary and Mains. You have to cracked the Preliminary examination first, Only then you are eligible to appeared for Main examination. preliminary examination is also called CSAT Examination and there are 2 papers in preliminary examination. Main examination is Descriptive and you have to choose the Optional Subjects for Main examination.

    You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination.The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below:

    ~~ Upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST.
    ~~ Upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes.
    ~~ Upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate had been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir

    Number of attempts :

    The maximum number of attempts restriction is applicable for candidates are as :

    ~~ General candidates: 4 attempts.
    ~~ Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction.
    ~~ Other Backward Classes: 7 attempts.

    So, if your graduation is complete then you are eligible for Civil services examination to become IAS.

    The Notification for this year examination was already Published and the last date of apply for this examination was already Over. the preliminary examination will be held soon on 20/May/2012.

    hello, i m amandeep having 2 years diploma in instrumentation and control engg. and 3 year degree in the same discipline , can i appear for IAS exam

    IAS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam so if you want to go for IAS exam , you can attend to CSAT exam.

    If you have completed B-TECH or BE degree in Instrumentation and control , then you can definitely applicable in IAS exam.

    Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.


    But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.


    The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.


    Also you must be in citizen in India.


    The IAS selection process is consist in three way


    1)Preliminary exam

    2)Main exam
    3)Inter View.
