    Hiii. I am also a electrical engineering student .You got very less percentage i.e 58.9%.But if you'r communication skills are good definitely you will get a job .Many companies are there those companies are watching there skills instead of there percentage of marks.so you search that types companies and attend for interviews you will get job definitely.
    you'r having opportunity to go for software side also .Try in software companies .you shouldn't worry for you'r percentage .Try and Try until you get successes .All the Best.

    dear friend

    there are very less chances of getting jobs after scoring only 58.9 % marks in b.tech.

    however there are some companies whose placement eligibility criteria is less than 60.they are mainly software companies.

    you will not be recuited in top companies :

    1.ongc

    2.bhel

    3.sail

    4.ntpc

    5.bsnl

    6.drdo

    it willb be better for you to go for higher studies and then look for jobs.

    --->crack the GATE examinations ,you will surely get good jobs without having any % barrier.

    all the best

    Dear friend,
    Electrical is a engineering course.It is a 4 yrs course.If you have completed it successfully then you must have get a job.

    There are a lot of job opportunities for Electrical students.If you have core knowledge of your subjects then you can get a good job.

    You can choose govt. or private sector,which you feel comfortable for you.

    There are lot of jobs in govt. sector for ECE students:

    Indian Engineering Service

    BSNL/ MTNL

    Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC),

    Civil Aviation Department;

    Steel Authority of Indian Limited (SAIL),

    Power Sector (NTPC / NHPC Ltd.),

    Bharat Electronics Limited,

    Indian Railways,

    ISRO

    HAL(Hindustan Aeronautics Limited).

    but you do not have 60% marks so you are not eligible for these companies.

    But if you want to join private companies then you have so many options :

    LG Electronics,
    Nokia,
    AMD,
    CISCO,
    Nvdia,
    Intel,
    Samsung Electronics,
    Sony,
    Toshiba,
    Philips ,
    HP
    IBM.

    To get a job in private company you have to go through a tough selection procedure

    These companies arrange 2-3 technical rounds ,which you need to clear.

    best of lk..

    Hai Friend.

    Sorry, you cannoy get a job with less than 60%.

    Because all the companies are asking only for the candidates having percentage 60% or above. They will be very strict regarding this.

    Even if you do well in the exam and get selected also,at the time of verification they will send you out when they come to know that you have less than 60%.

    Anyhow All The Best for your future.

    Re: Can a Electrical Engineer get any jobs after B.Tech with 58.9%?

    Yes ; there are many core companies both from Government Sector and private sector which hire Electrical and Electronic graduates.

    Eligibility

    As a Engineering graduate you can try out in the below companies.

    You can even get into these companies after completing your M.tech course which will be off a higher post.

    I have given here a list of companies which you can try out for after completing your Engineering with minimum of 70% aggregate.the aggregate level may be higher or lower depending upon the company.

    But,for most of the Public Sector Undertaking(PSU's) the aggregate must be above 65%.

    Procedure

    The procedure almost remains the same for all the examinations conducted by core companies.the test is basically divided into two parts

    1.Written Test

    2.Interview

    The written test is generally conducted in selected Cities.

    If selected for the written you will be called up for the interview where they will decide whether to select you or not based upon your performance.

    List of Companies

    National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC)

    Bharat Heavy Electricals limited(BHEL)

    Jindal Steel and Power Limited

    Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL)

    Bharat Electronics Ltd.(BEL)

    You can even go through Engineering Services exam conducted by the UPSC Board through which you can get placed in various organizations.

    You can even go through GENCO,TRANSCO,Power Grid exams conducted by State and National Boards.

    All the exams which i have mentioned above have their own procedure's for recruiting candidates hence you need to go through these exams individually.

    Good Luck . .

    Re: Can a Electrical Engineer get any jobs after B.Tech with 58.9%?

    Hello Friend...........

    Electrical engineering is the one of the branch of engineering and in order to get in to any of the sectors of the jobs with your graduation you need to get at least of 60% minimum and for appearing to the government sector jobs you need to have minimum of 65% aggregate with less then 60% of aggregate Bachelor of Technology course of study is not at all usefull for the jobs...........
    Dude actually there is only one source for you in getting in to the jobs and they are the
    IBPS
    Civil Services examination
    These needs bachelor of technology complete and there is no minimum percentage required for appearing to these services and you can not apply for the jobs which are related to your electrical fields or any other competitive examinations also with your aggregate as the minimum first class aggregate is the 60% should be needed in order to get in to any of the jobs........

    In order to get in to these two services with your graduation course of study you also need to keep more effort as these are very much tough course of study when compared to your graduation course as you does not have another source of opportunity for the work you need to attain the jobs through these two services.......
    These civil services needs some of the qualifications which are needed to be satisfied in order to appear for these services and some of them are...........
    >>You need to have minimum of 21 years and should not exceed the age of 30 years
    >>should have completed the graduation or the bachelor degree course of study and just pass of the graduation is enough for this civil services examination..........
    >>should be the citizen of India
    There are maximum limits of examinations which are fixed and the candidates can appear for the examination with in these limits and they are different for different categories of candidate such as
    SC/ST- no limit
    BC's-7
    General -4
    These are the minimum criteria required for appearing to these civil services...........

    There are many more companies for the Electrical engineering and you can not get the eligibility for appearing to these examinations and also there is no chance for you to appear either in the IT industries also.............

    My dear friend i am really sorry to say that your aggregate percentage in your respective Electrical Engineering Branch is very less.
    It will become a hurdle in getting you a good job.
    But still you can try in some companies.

    The minimum percentage required in all the Government and Private Electrical Departments and companies is 60%.
    It would have been great if you had scored 1 or 2 percent more that would have helped you to satisfy the eligibility criteria for getting good jobs.

    But still if you are good at your skills and practical work then you can surely get a good job.

    Here is the list of the Core Electrical Department and Companies:

    --> BHEL

    --> Kirloskar

    --> ISRO

    --> Swaraj

    --> Mahindra

    --> Power Grid

    --> Electrical Department

    --> BSNL etc.

    You can try in the above for better jobs.

    Best of Luck.

    Regards
    tanveersandhu.
