Sure you can join the Navy. You have the option to chose Indian Navy or Merchant Navy. For the Indian Navy you can apply through the short service commission. But you need to have atleast 60% marks in graduation. You can apply as and when vacancy is announced. If you wish to join Merchant Navy you can do so by appearing for the various entrance test. On clearing the test you will need to undergo training period. You will need to join as a junior engineer. For upgradation in rank you will need to appear for various entrance exams. You need to decide which of these interest you. By joining for the Indian Navy you will join the defense of the country and Merchant Navy involves travelling across the world based on the consignment order for the shipping company. In Merchant Navy the course duration ranges from 4 years (degree In Marine Engineering) to 3 months (Course for deck cadets). One can select the course according to the interest. The minimum qualification required to join any course in Merchant Navy is plus two with subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics compulsory. Graduates in Nautical science or Marine Engineering can opt for direct entry in Navigational and Engineering fields of Marine Engineering. For the plus two students, so as to enter into the field of Merchant Navy, they need to clear a Joint Entrance Examination conducted by NIT- mainly tests the knowledge in the domain of Physics, Chemistry and Maths. The qualified students need to attend the Personal interview which assesses their interest and some personal attribute like love for adventure and challenge, responsiveness, adjustable attitude etc. Besides it also check the candidate’s knowledge on the external environment, presence of mind and degree of alertness. There are some courses which also need the medical fitness, so the candidate should pass this also depend upon the course he opt. The qualities along with qualification will determine the success in this career.

Yes you can join Navy as your are B.Tech.Here is two option for you Indian Navy and Merchant Navy. You can write these exams for joining in Indian Navy:

CDSE - Combined Defense Service Exam

UPSC Conducts CDSE every year for recruiting the candidates through following wings
1.Indian Militar Academy(IMA)
2.Indian Navy
3.Air Force Academy(AFA)

For Naval Academy : Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1991 (2nd January, 1988 in case of NCC Naval wing ‘C’ certificate holders) and not later than 1st January 1994 only are eligible.

The UPSC conducts this CDSE twice a year — in February and August/September — to admit cadets to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, and the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

Educational Eligibility for CDS:

- For IMA and OTA, you must have any degree from any recognized University.

- For Navy, you should have B.Sc in Physics or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering(BE).
