Re: Can a Army officer eligible to give UPSC exam in order to become IAS Officer?

    Hi aspirant,

Being an Army Officer you are obviously eligible to apply for Indian Administrative examination.
And also you have an extra privilege of age relaxation of 5 years.

But this does not fully satisfy the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility criteria for IAS exam are:

    Educational Qualification:

    * The candidate should be a citizen of India
    * The candidate must have completed any degree from any rcognised college
    * The canddate should have a minimum of 50% percentage of Mark in his pursued graduation course.
    * The candidate of any stream with completed graduation are eligible.

    Age Limit:

For General Candidate the Age limit is 21-30 years.
For SC/ST Candidate the Age limit is 21-35 years.
For ex-servicemen age limit is 21-35 years.
For OBC Candidate the Age limit is 21-33 years.
The above defined age limits will not be added when someone is satisfying both age relaxation criteria.

    No of Attempts:

For General Candidate : 4 Attempts
    For SC/ST Candidate : Unlimited
For OBC Candidate : 7 Attempts

There are 3 Stage for Becoming a IAS:

    Preliminary Exam
    Main Exam
    Personal Interview

Question Pattern for the Preliminary Exam:

    Communication
    Logical reasoning
    Data Interpretation
    Computer Knowledge
    Decision Making
    Analytical Reasoning

Question pattern for the Main exam:

    One Indian language
    English
    Essay
    General Studies
Any two Optional subjects (optional papers selected by the candidate)

    ALL THE BEST
