CA-CPT exam conducted by the ICAI Institute of Chartered Accountants of India which was established under the 1949 Act. The CA exams are divided into three sections:

    CA Chartered Accountant

    PCC(Proficiency Competency Course)
    CA finals

You can Register for the CPT exam as soon as you complete your 10th standard and can appear for the exam after completing your 10+2 or Equivalent. The registration for the exam is open through out the year and the exam is conducted twice in the month of June and December.

The Exam has an Objective type paper with 4 papers:

    PCC(Proficiency Competency Course)

If you have passed your 12th and CPT exam you are eligible to appear for the PCC exam.

Note: If you have cleared up the CPT exam but failed in the 10+2 final examination then you have no need to appear for the CPT exam again. You can directly apply for the PCC examination.

You can register for 100 Hours of Information Technology Training and you are eligible for the PCE only after 15 months of training.

You can apply for the final Course after you complete/pass your PCE examination. After you finish your training for about 3 and a half years you can appear for the CA finals examination. CA CPT is actually Common proficiency test which is the first stage in the whole procedure. You are compulsorily required to
clear this exam if you want to register for the next level of chartered accountancy course(IPCC- Integrated professional competence course).
But if you have already completed your graduation, then according to a new notification issued by the institute you would not be required
to appear for the first stage and you can directly appear for the intermediate level.

It is basically an objective exam consisting of 100 questions. The questions are divided into four sections.
It is of 200 marks. You require at least 100 marks to qualify the exam. The various sections in the exam are as follows:
    1)Fundamentals of Accountancy
    3)Mercantile law
    4)Quantitative Aptitude.
And you require to score a minimum of 50% marks(not compulsory to score 50% in each section) in the exam.
