Gate Exam tests the basics in the disciplinary courses of any engineering discipline. So it is good to have a good grip on engineering concepts through the text books prescribed in syllabus.
To review all the topics and get a lot of practice books by GK publications are excellent. The book covers a wide range of questions and lot of practice material. It also comes with a practice CD.
