    BioInformatics National Certification (BINC) Examination

    The Bioinformatics National Certification Examination is carried out by the Pune University on behalf of the Biotechnology Department. The BINC is held for the admission of students into the bioinformatics courses offered in Universities and institutes in India. The main purpose of this examination is to recruit professionals of bioinformatics professionals. This will assist prospective employers in the employment of brilliant candidates. An additional feature of this year’s exam is that a cash award of Rs. 10,000 will be rewarded to the top ten candidates of the BINC.

    Structure and Pattern of BINC Examination

    The paper of the BioInformatics National Certification Examination is separated into III parts. It will consist of subjects like Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics and Physics. Questions on subjects like Information Technology and Chemistry will also be asked. While Part I will include questions of the objective type, Part II will contain of short answer type questions. The Part III will be a practical test based on computer proficiency.

    Qualification Criteria for BINC Examination

    The qualification required for candidates who seek to write the BioInformatics National Certification Examination is a graduate degree in any of these streams – Science, engineering, agriculture, veterinary and technology. Those students who have learned pharmacy or medicine are also suitable to appear for the BINC. Any formal training, certificate or a diploma in bioinformatics is not required.

    Application Procedure of BINC Examination

    Students can apply for the BINC exam by two methods. They can either download the form from the authorized website of the BINC or purchase it directly from the Pune University. The price of the form is Rs. 600/- for general candidates and Rs. 450/- for those candidates of the reserved categories.
