    Hello Friend,

Both streams are very good stream among the above mentioned. But I would suggest you to choose ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering). Being a B.Tech you are able to------

    1. Get jobs in core companies via placement from your college or self appointment.
2.Get jobs in IT companies(reputed IT companies like Ifosis, webel, wipro, tcs, accenture etc).
3.Get jobs in Govt. sectors like Indian railways,ISRO etc.
    4.Get jobs in MNC's.

You can study further with M.Tech or with MBA to get more scope of jobs.

It will totally depends upon you which branch you will select.
Buth after selecting any branch you will get job oppurtunities in both the sectors that public sectors as well as in private sectors.
One important reasons if you want to go in heavy engineering companies then you must go for mechanical engineering and if you want to get jobs in DVC and in other power plants then you must go for doing electronics and communication engineering.

But mechanical engineering is high demend in todays market and i will remain in the future.
If you want to get good jobs in your future and do not want to suffer from the problems of placements then I will surely promote to choose for mechanical branch.
It is basically called as cream in the field of engineering.

However whatever branch you will select you get jobs in the following government sectors.
    These are:-

    BANKING SECTORS
    BSNL
    MTNL
    ISRO
    DRDO
    INDIAN RAILWAYS
    INDIAN ARMY
    INDIAN NAVY
    INDIAN AIRFORCE
    FCI
    INCOME-TAX
    IB
    UPSC
    etc.

One last thing I will want to share with by selecting branch it does not give surity that you will become secure regarding your future,For shaping a good future You will have to study by your heart.

Re: Which is the best stream for engineering between Mechanical and ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering)?

If you wanna go in software and information technology field then electronics and communication is best option.most of the jobs in this field are provided by private sector.salary varies from 25000 to 50000+ /pm for fresher students who are getting placements from universities.Due to more number of girls this is very competitive branch.some companies are-

    wipro
    dell
    ibm
    google
    vodafone
    idea
    reliance communication
indian armed forces(best option for research and development)
    honey well
    infosys
    siemens
    nokia
    Godrej & boyce
    sony India

if you are interested to work in core companies which are engaged in manufacturing ,design, maintenance, research and development then mechanical engineering is the best option.every year 95 % of total mechanical engineers are getting jobs and this highest than any other branch.salary varies from 30000 to 100000+/pm for mechanical engineers.some companies are-

    BHEL
    BDL
    HAL
    L & T
    mahindra and mahindra
    sonalika tractors
    tata motors
    DRDO
    NTPC
    ONGC
    SAIL
    virgo solutions
    Godrej
    siemens
    thermax
    indian armed forces.
    indian railway

on comparing both you will find that mechanical engineering is better than electronics and communication engineering.

Dear both are core streams of engg and evergreen, so dont compare these two, just go with your interest, if you think about campus placement it all depends upon the institution, so choose accordingly, some of the good institutions like IP, SRM, LPU,DCE, etc
