    Hello friend !!

You have mentioned that, you already appeared for the GATE Examination 2012.

Check out your results with the help of following image :

If you are Qualifying in the GATE Examination, and you are getting a good score then its better to get into the Post Graduation course i.e M'tech.

    M'tech -- Master of Technology.

This is 2years Post Graduation which is done after Engineering.

    The eligibility is GATE Qualification.

And you must be a Graduate.

There are many different specializations available for all the streams of Engineering.

Specializations in Mechanical Engineering are like :

    Thermal Engineering
    Computer Integrated Manufacturing
    Automobile Engineering
    Manufacturing Engineering
    Material Technology
    Industrial Engineering
    Product Design and Development
    Industrial Safety Engineering

Top M.tech colleges in India are :-

    1.IIT Bombay, India
    2.IIT Kanpur, , India
    3.IIT Delhi, India
    4.BITS, Pilani University, India
    5.IIT Kharagpur, , India
    6.IIT Madras, India
    7.IIT Varanasi(ex-IT BHU), , India
    8.IIIT Allahabad, India
    9.IIT Guwahati, India
    10.ISM Dhanbad, India
    11. College of Eng., Anna University, Guindy, India
    12. NIT- National Institute of Technology, Waranga, India
    13. New IITs, India
    14. BIT, Mesra, Ranchi, India
    15. NIT- National Institute of Technology, Trichy, India
    16. Delhi College of Engineering, New Delhi, India
    17. Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, India
    18. NIT- National Institute of Technology, Suratkal, India
    19. Motilal Nehru National Inst. of Technology, Allahabad, India
    20. IIIT, Hyderbad, India

The IITs are also known for world-class research.

If you are not getting admission in these mentioned colleges, then there will be no use of your M'tech Degree.

So if this is the case, then its better for getting into a Job.

Being a Mechanical Engineering, you can find job very easily in the following public sector industries such as :-

    Indian Railways,
    Indian Air force (Technical),
    Indian Army,
    Thermal power corporations etc…

    Good Luck !!

If you are placed in a good Company and getting good Salary then why are you wasting your time. The Best way is to do the Job without think about M.tech. Because after Master degree you will apply for the job and do hard work for job and get or not after some time. So i suggest you join the company in which you are selected. You can also do the M.tech from the any college if you want to do further study with job also.
