From my point of view those candidate are enter in graduation degree with arts department they have lots of benefit for IAS exam.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC through Civil Service Exam so if you want to go for IAS exam , you can attend to CSAT exam.

Those candidate are graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

But your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

The maximum attempts for SC/ST candidate is Unlimited. For OBC candidate it is 7 years and for general candidate it will be 5 years.

Also you must be in citizen in India.

The IAS selection process is consist in three way

    1)Preliminary exam

    2)Main exam
    3)Inter View.

Re: Which is the best graduation course to be eligible for IAS entrance exam?

    Dear friend,

    Hope you are doing well.

    IAS EXAM ELIGIBILITY:-

    1.NATIONALITY-

->You should be an INDIAN national.

    2.AGE LIMITS:-

    MINIMUM-22years

    MAXIMUM-30years

With relaxations in age for reserved categories.

    3.NO OF ATTEMPTS:-

    GENERAL-4

    OBC-7

    SC/ST-Unlimited

    4.EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:-

Graduate in any discipline from any recognised university.

    IAS EXAM PATTERN:-

    1.PRELIMINARY EXAM

    2.MAIN EXAM

    3.FINAL INTERVIEW

Since the recommended educational qualification doesnot specify any specified degree you can opt for any undergraduate course.

The best thing is to opt for 3 years degree rather than 4 year B.Tech because you can get more time for preparation as there are restrictions on age and also the number of attempts

If you are still interested to do engineering only and then opt for IAS

then you could opt for rather simpler B.Tech courses like CSE etc.

So that you can score well with a less strain .

Your selection of the course depends upon your interest and capability.

    Hope the information helped you.

    All the best.
