Well as of now, I will comment on how I have seen the career of quite a few people. You must not opt something which is very "easy" from the study or approach point of view. These fields will not earn you good jobs other than that of government school teaching. These topics as of now are zoology and botany. These would not get you far. For now two of the booming subjects are Bioinformatics and Microbiology. If you take an of these or Biotechnology or Biochemistry you will have high chances of publishing journals in established and esteemed organizations. Now the moment you start publishing journals you are keeping a field open for your research. You are rather doing a ground work for your research. After your graduation and corresponding master degree, if you do not go for a corporate job, then you can remain as a research scholar and try for different government aided young scientist posts. This will be a feather in your cap and with this you can build a strong resume for lectureship jobs or scientist jobs in abroad.
