Eligibility criteria for bank clercial posts: educational qualification is 12th in any stream and age limit is 18 to 28years. Then apply ibps exam in every year. Ya you are over qualified for this post. You tried for bank probability officer post. That is suitable for your qualification . That is good for your future . Think well and decide. Best of luck.

    Dear friend,
You are eligible for bank exams, but you are a engg. graduate world is waiting for you,you will waste your degree, money spent on engg. degree and also your talent if you do a bank clerk job after degree.

You should apply for job in MNCs like Infosys, wipro,TCS etc.

You can apply for army,air-force ,navy, you will be recruited as a engineer.YOu will get good life style, respect, job satisfaction, complete family life.

Since you are a electronics student you can apply for govt. job like you can apply for IES(Indian Engineering services), you can apply for BHEL etc.

So don't waste your time thinking about bank jobs .

    best of lk..

Re: Is a B.Tech ECE Graduate eligible for Bank Exams? Am I over qualified for clerk post in Bank?

The Common written examination for recruiting candidates for Clerical cadre posts
in 19 Public sector banks will be organised by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection
(IBPS). Some top banks that will be recruiting candidates through this exam are
Allahabad Bank ,Indian Overseas Bank, Canara Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab
National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Corporation Bank, Dena Bank etc. The eligibility for
appearing in this exam is that you must have attained 18 years of age which is the
lower age limit whereas the upper age limit is 28 years. The educational qualification
that one must possess to appear in this exam are as follows:-

1)You must either have compleated your 10th with 60% marks in aggregate
2)Or you must have passed your 12th with 50% marks in aggregate
3)Or you must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised university.

So you can also apply in this exam, as you hold a Bachelors degree in engineering.
But i think that as you are a engineer, you have better opportunities to go for.
Atleast if you are intrested in making a career in banking then you should go for
appearing in the common written examination for Management trainees/Probationary
officers. But again i would suggest you to utilise your engineering degree to get some
    technical job.

Re: Is a B.Tech ECE Graduate eligible for Bank Exams? Am I over qualified for clerk post in Bank?

Yes you definitely are eligible for the bank exams-- be it Clerical or Probationary Officer (PO) bank exams.

Rather than targeting for Clerical exams, I would advise you to try for PO post.
As it's a higher rank than clerk and it's apt with your qualification also.

The eligibility criteria for Clerk Common Written Exam (CWE) are:
    > Candidate needs to have 60% in X or 50% in XII or needs to be a graduate in any discipline
    > Candidate needs to be in the age limit of 18-28 years

Here there is no specific requirement for the percentage of marks that one gets in one's graduation.

In Probationary Officer Bank Exam, the criteria demanded for eligibility are as follows:
    > Candidate needs to be a graduate with 60% of marks.
    > The age limit should be in between 21-30 years.
    > Candidates in their final year of graduation can also apply.

Here, if you dont have 60% or more in your B.Tech you won't be eligible for the exam.
and then you can lower your target to CWE IBPS clerk exam.

    All the best!!!

    Yes,
a B.tech graduate candidate is very more eligible for bank Clerk entrance exam. You are right that having this qualification you are over qualified for bank clerk post.
If you want to join banking sector than you should apply for bank PO post. A graduate degree having in any stream, is eligible for bank PO entrance exam.
You should have age between 20 and 30 years for bank PO entrance exam. The exam of Bank PO is of objective pattern.
