Percentage requirements for admission to B.Tech second year may vary with University. Periyar Maniammai University requires minimum 50% marks in diploma for admission through lateral entry. But you must qualify the entrance test conducted by the college/ University to seek admission. Other courses like B.Sc in Computer science or IT are also suitable. After completing this course, you can seek admission to second year of B.Tech, if interested. PG diploma in Computer Science is also suitable for you. You can select course according to your interest.

Diploma holders in computer science can pursue B.Tech programs in IT or computer science. Course curriculum of these subjects is much related to those in diploma. Usually diploma holders are admitted to B.Tech degree in the related stream only. You can get in to second year of engineering degree through lateral entry.
