There is a slight difference between between BTech and BE. Also there is a difference between Computer Science course and Information technology. A Bachelors in Engineering course basically helps you learning how new technologies are developed and how they are developed. A Bachelors in Technology course is suitable for those who are interested in the learning how to utilize the existing technologies to the maximum. By doing an Information Technology course you will be learning programming skills. In the Computer Science course you will be learning how to solve computer problems and also to develop new technologies. It will be mentioned clearly in the newspaper on the eligibility criteria. Apply accordingly. In most cases both will be called for.

Re: Is B.Tech./B.E.(IT) equivalent to B.Tech./B.E.(CS)?

B.Tech (CS) deals with the study of computations and information to solve computer problems and develop new technologies. But B.Tech (IT) deals with the study of programmes and software in the computer system. B.Tech / BE in Computer Science and Information Technology are dissimilar areas of study. However, these two are related fields. Most of the notifications for Government jobs in the concerned field come out as B.Tech in CS / IT. Since you have a B.Tech in Information Technology, you can also apply for jobs in CS. Read carefully the advertisement notification clearly before applying for any post. In most cases, the candidates are eligible with graduation in technology in both fields.

B.E. or B.Tech in Information Technology deals with the software development, software engineering and software programming on a larger scale while B.E. or B.Tech in Computer Science deals with software as well s hardware tech. solutions. Both, IT and CS, have same academic base. The job opportunities in IT sector deals with companies related to information systems, technological solutions, BPOs like Infosys, TCS, etc but CS sector deals in more core technological companies like Motorola, Symbian , etc. If you have keen interest in new technologies and programming skills, then i would suggest you to go for IT field and if you have interest in hardware and improved technologies, then go for CS field.
    all the best!!

Re: Is B.Tech./B.E.(IT) equivalent to B.Tech./B.E.(CS)?

b.tech in computer science deals with computation, developing computer technologies and hardware technologies solutions but b.tech in information technology deals with the software engineering and programming, software development. both the IT and CSE fields have same subjects upto some extent but the jobs are different in different fields. IT jobs are in software companies, and in BPOs ans MNCs such as wipro, satyam, info sys, genpact, etc but for CS jobs are in the fields related to technology development companies such as cellular companies, symbian etc.
but you want a job in govt sector first of all you have to read employment news ones in the week edition in which there will be vacancies for both govt and private sectors. just you have to see the notification and apply for the job and see the rules and regulations for the job before applying and as you are applying for the govt sector there will be relaxation for the sc/st, obc, candidates based on the govt quota. just you have to appear in the entrance exam of it.

I woulf like to clearify you that first BE/Btech are two different things ,BE includes more theory in it and B.Tech includes more Practical in it.Here there is small difference between IT and Computer science ,In IT students are trained for prograaming and new software formation whereas In Computer science It includes Formation of New Techniques in the field of Computers .So i woul say both the fields are almost equal ,both are related to computers so any one you can opt
I wish you all the best....!!!

We can not surely say that these two branches have same equivalence in govt. or any other because there studied part differ slightly so it depends on companies that they required CS/IT according to their preference but not where a specific either CS/IT demanded by company

BE/BTech (I.T) deals with only software solutions but BE/BTech (CS) deals with software solutions and hareware problems in computers.
    so both are separate.
so be careful in applying job and read the instructions carefully while applying job.
dontworry for your job .jobs are more in both streams in govt and pvt sector.
    best of luck.

it deals with networking and telecommunication side and cse deals with software applications and hardware and computer internals .

    IT vs Computer science

In their most basic terms, Computer Science and Information Technology may not have any difference when being referred to in general and for a good reason, a lot of people do take them to mean more or less the same thing. However, speaking in strict computing terms, there is indeed a difference between the two terms.

Computer science refers to the processes used to create usable computer programs and applications together with all theory behind those processes. Information technology on the other hand refers to the application of computer programs to solve business processes. It is the application of technology in business. Information technology is very vast in terms of scale because it is applied virtually to any type of process that may require automation, from business, scientific research to the music industry, telecoms and banking.

    1. Computer science deals with creating computer programs while IT deals with the usage of those programs in business.
    2. Computer science is at the ‘lower level’ while Information technology is at high level, in computing terms.
    3. Information technology integrates computer science into the business world for automated solutions.
    4. Computer scientists should have low level workings of computers whereas in IT that’s not necessary

at the starting,c.s.is given preference because it is the parent branch...but if you want to do mba or m.tech afterwards, then both are equivalent

IT ENGINEERS WILL GENERALLY STUDY THESE CONCEPTS

    Signals and Systems
    Principles of Communication
    Information Coding Techniques
    Telecommunication Systems
    Embedded Systems
    Component Based Technology

CS ENGINEERS WILL GENERALLY STUDY THESE CONCEPTS

    Operating systems
    Computer networks
    Computer architecture
    System software
    Data structures
    Data mining & warehousing

    IN TERMS OF KNOWLEDGE
Usually computer science students will study Hardware and software concepts, but IT student will study only software concepts
    IN TERMS OF PLACEMENT
CSE branch shows good placement records than IT branch in any college.

CSE is not equal to IT , always CSE is the best

so i suggest you to opt for CSE

in simple words IT engineers knows how to work with things , but CSE engineers knows how things work .

There is very small difference between two .
Currently B.Tech./B.E.(CS) is consider to be of more value than B.Tech./B.E.(IT).
Also seats in colleges choosen by students are first filled up in B.Tech./B.E.(CS) and B.Tech./B.E.(IT) seats are filled up.
Study in both branches are almost same but only difference is that IT students deals mostly with software parts and computer languages while CS branch students deals with both software and hardware parts.
Companies approaching for placements takes students from both the branch.

My son has passed B.E (I.T) Degree, from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar marathwada University Aurangabad( Maharashtra) , whether B.E(I.T) degree be considered equivalent to B.E( C.S.E) Degree for applying for jobs.
