    Hello Aspirant!
    It is NOT compulsory for you to take maths when you are choosing Commerce branch.
    You see, if you take up commerce branch, you will only be eligible for Indian Army wing and not Indian Naval and Air force Wing. And Indian Army Wing doesn't require Math at all!
    However, if you want to go over to Air Force or Naval squads, then a 10+2 or equivalent with physics and math become compulsory!

    So, you can choose not to take Math and still go over to Indian Army!

    All the Best, Future Jawan!

    My dear friend.

    NDA stands for National Defense Academy.

    It is conducted by UPSC twice a year.

    If you will do 12th with PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Maths) my friend then you will be eligible for all the wings of NDA.

    Otherwise you will only be eligible for Indian Army.

    Indian Defense sector has 3 wings.

    These are:-

    --> Indian Army

    --> Indian Navy

    --> Indian Air Force

    The main criteria for NDA is given below:-

    --> Candidate must be aging b/w 16.5-19 years.

    --> Only male candidates are eligible.

    --> Cnadidate must be unmarried.

    --> He must be physically fit.

    --> He must be having Indian Nationality.

    --> His eye sight should be 6/6 with glasses.

    The NDA syllabus and exam pattern is shown below:-

    I hope this information will be helpful.

    Re: Am I not eligible for NDA exam if I don't have maths in class 11?

    Hi Friend...

    You are eligible for the NDA examination only after the completion of your 12th class of study with the respective areas of study and if you dont have mathematics in your 11th and 12th means you can appear only for the Indian army recruitment of NDA examination services as if you had completed your 12th with mathematics and physics branches of study then you can appear for the NDA Indian Navy and Indian Air force recruitments...

    So as you had not taken the mathematics in your 11th class then you can appear only for the Indian army recruitment of NDA services and also you can appear only after the completion of your 12th class that is the 10+2 class of study only...
    there are certain selection procedure which are present for the NDA recruitment for Indian army and as a commerce students after 12th you can appear for NDA with in the age limit of 16 1/2 years to 19 years of age only.

    The selection process may include of
    >>written test
    >>Medical test
    >>Physical test
    >>Personnel interview
    If you clear all the rounds then you can get in to these services...

    Re: Am I not eligible for NDA exam if I don't have maths in class 11?

    NDA stands for National Defence Academy. There are 3 wings in Indian Defence --
    1.Indian Army
    2.Indian Navy
    3.Indian Airforce

    Educational Qualification for NDA :

    12th Class of 10+2 System of Education/Equivalent for Army
    and with Physics and Maths for AF/Navy.

    So if you don't have Mathematics in 10+2 then you are not eligible to seat for NDA exam for Airforce & Naval wing. Although you are eligible for INDIAN ARMY.
