The CA CPT exam is conducted twice in a year. It is held on first Sunday in June and December in every year.

    Eligibility:

    >Few year before charted accountancy course was only for the students who has graduate degree, but now pattern has been changed. Now 10+2 pass student can also register for CPT

    Exam pattern:

CPT is an objective type examination for four hours duration which is divided into two sessions, Session I and Session II.

    Session I
Section A : Fundamental of Accounting
    Section B : Mercantile Laws

    Session II
    Section C : General Economics
    Section D : Quantitative Aptitude

Each session has two hours duration and two subjects with divided into total marks 100. There are multiple choice questions the examination.

    50% marks is the cutoff.

Re: Am I eligible to write CA CPT exam after completing my B.Tech in 2009?

This is one of kind of a question where a engineer is asking how to become a
Charted accountant. The Common proficiency test (CPT) is a entrance test for
admission to the course of Charted accountancy .

The eligibility for Common proficiency test (CPT) is that you must be a 12 th pass
in order to appear in this examination. So you are definitely eligible to appear in CPT.

But my concern is that why does a engineer wants to become a CA? However it
is your personal matter and choice , but if you wanted to become a Charted
accountant then why in the first place you studied engineering. A degree in engineering
would have already costed you around 4 lacs. This amount is a hard earned money of
    your parents.

And above money , their is going to be a waste of knowledge. Engineering is a technical
course and is considered as a professional degree. You have learned technical skills in this
course and now you want to waste it by going in entirely a different profession.

I may suggest you instead to go for a degree in MBA, which will be more relevant to
you graduation degree in comparision to CA course. Most of the engineers are nowadays
going for MBA after their BE/BTech. The reason is that a BE + MBA will help you in getting
top managerial positions in Multinational companies and will add buisness and management
    skills to your technical profile.

You can infact go for a MBA in finance if you are intrested in finance. Again MBA is only a
two year course as compared to CA where it will take minimum 4 years of time for you
to finally become a CA. Also being form a technical background it may be a trouble for you to
study subjects like Indirect and direct taxes and Auditing.

    Dear friend,

=> Yes you can apply and attend the CA-C.P.T exams..
=> But friend as you have completed your graduation from B.TECH engineering..
=> And if your percentage is more than 60%..

=> If your percentage is less than 60%..you need to attend the C.P.T exam..
=> And you need to be perfect in aptitude, economics, laws, accountancy..
=> And register first for the exam and apply for it..

Dear, there are 3 stages viz. CPT, IPCC and Final.

One should have to clear CPT, the attempts fall in june and dec.

Then IPCC stage, it may take 2.6-3 years with articleship.

And then final, there are no semister or duration but you can complete in 4-5 years.

Re: Am I eligible to write CA CPT exam after completing my B.Tech in 2009?

Yes you are eligible to write CA entrance examination but before few year th rule is changed for Gradaution completd candidates...

CA course has three stage : CPT ,IpCC and Articleship training + final course...

The graduate candidate can directly apply to CA SECOND STAGE : IPCC ( Integrated Professional Competency Coursr)...

The Central Government has announced a new rule that Grades of any stream can apply for IPCC examination directly if have completd graduation with 55 % for Commerce stream and 60 % for Non Commerce graduates...

So being a B.tech candidate you can apply for IPCC .......

For CPT exam 12th standard passed candidates are eligible ....
    Thanks
    Thanks
