Re: Am I eligible for SET and NET after completing M.A in English from IGNOU?

Yes you can apply for SET/NET exam with this qualification. In order to attend any of these exams, you should be a post graduate from a reputed institute. Also 55% marks is specified which should be secured by candidates in PG level. There is no restriction for attending SET/NET exam even if you have taken PG as a distance course provided you have selected a recognized institute for studies. You can apply for this exam as per the notifications which get published in official sites. On clearing SET/NET exam, you can get in to lecturer positions. You have to attend personal interview and also do teaching demonstration if you are successful in clearing this exam.

NET stand for National Eligibility test
SET stands for State Eligibility test

NET examination is conducted by UGC, Twice in a year and SET examination is conducted by Various State Universities on the behalf of UGC.

The eligibility criteria and examination pattern is approximately same. If you have completed your Post graduate degree course in English from IGNOU and scored minimum 55% marks, then definitely you are eligible for both these examinations. Final year Post graduate candidates are also apply for NET/SET Examination.

You have to complete your Master degree course from a recognised university and scored minimum 55% marks.

If any one not scored 55% marks in his post graduation are not allowed to appear for this examination.

You have to submit your Passing certificate to the UGC to get the NET Certificate. If you have scored minimum 55% marks, only then you are eligible for P.hd courses. If you cracked this examination then you will also get lectureship post in some top colleges/Universities.

There is no upper age restrictions to apply for Lectureship post

You have to attained the age of 19 years to apply for this examination. Dont think the examination is easy and you will cracked it easily. This is top toughest examination of India and few one will be able to qualified it.

UGC have change his examination pattern and now there are 3 papers in net examination and all are Objective. UGC Remove the Descriptive paper, all the paper will be conducted in same day in 2 session.

You have to choose the subject in NET on the basis of your post graduation. So you have to choose English as a subject in NET Examination because you have completed your Post graduation in English.

Re: Am I eligible for SET and NET after completing M.A in English from IGNOU?

NET stands for National eligibility Test and the NET examination is conducted by UgC every year twice times.

And SET stands for State Eligibility Test. And this examination is conducted by State or Universities on the behalf of UGC.

Both the examination are conducted for same purpose.

Educationcal qualification and age limit all are same for both the examination.

You must have scored 55 % in PG than only you will be able to give the examination of NET.

    The examination is conducted for
    JRF and Lectrure ship posts.
    Age limit:
for Lectruer post no upper age is specified
and for JRF maximum you can apply upto 28 years.
More than 28 years are not eligible to apply for Net examination.

    Thanks
