Candidates who have completed their 12th standard are eligible to join merchant navy. This is provided they have pursued Physics, Chemistry and Maths as the area of specialisation. This should have been pursued from a recognised institute. Also the minimum percentage required in the qualifying subjects is 55% in most institutes. Relaxation in this criteria is there in some institutes for those who belong to SC/ST category. So if you donot belong to this category you will certainly not be eligible for this stream. and after doin b.tech,than am i eligible or not?will my 12th marks matter(50%)aftr i complete my marine eng/mechanical eng??
plus i had a improvement exam(under cbse) in maths included in that 50%,so does that makes any difference??

There are two sides in merchant through which a candidate can join
merchant navy . One side is deck side and other is engine side .
If you want to come from deck side then you should have bechalor degree
in B.Sc nautical science .You can join merchant navy after completing B.Sc nautical science .
if you want to come from engine side then you should have B.Tech in marine engineerin or
in mechanical engineering .
If you want to come from deck side or fromengine side then following criteria you will have to full fill which are as follows :-
1]A candidate should be 12th pass with science stream .
2]A candidate should have atleast 55% in Physics ,chemistry , maths .
3] A candidate should have atleast 60 % in english .
4]Should be medically fit .
5] If a candidate wants to come from deck side then he should have 6/6 eyesight .
6]If a candidate want to come from engine side then he will get relaxation
in his eye sight .
So as per this data my friend you are not eligible .As you said that you have score only
50 % in 12 th .

If you are trying to join the Merchant navy after 12th standard then it will be a bit difficult for you on this percentage.
I guess you must do the graduation courses and then apply for the UES entry scheme , on that your 12th percentage will not matter .
But your graduation percentage must be atleast 60%.
university entry scheme selections are made on the technical field and will make you to occupy higher post.

Yes you are eligible for Merchant Navy. Yes 12th marks mattrers in all the exam where the eligibility criteria depends on 12th exam marks. So if you want to take admission in B Tech then you should have passed in 12th exam then you will be eligible for this. If you do B Tech in Mechanical engineering that will give better opportunities compare to others.

No the minimum eligibility for merchant navy is 55%. After completing B-tech, it depends on the eligibility criteria of the recruiter whether you can qualify or not. But with this marks You cannot go for merchant navy now. But you can go for B-tech and use the opportunity to join in that sector.

Educational qualification: The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

Merchant Navy is a type of shipment which deals with transporting cargo liners,tankers,carriers.It is mainly deals with the 3 major post in the ship and they are Deck,the Engine and the Saloon Department.

Qualification for Merchant Navy:

For joining in merchant navy,you must have done B.E/M.E in Marine engineering or B.sc Nautical science in Marine engineering.

To be eligible for doing these course,you must have completed your +2 from a recognized board with physics, chemistry and mathematics.

B.E Marine Engineering:

Duration: 4 years

Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English

B.S.C Nautical Science:

Duration: 3 years

Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English

M.E Marine Engineering:

Duration: 2 years

Eligibility: B.E Marine Engineering.

If you satisfy these criteria's then you can study the course and then join in Merchant navy

sorry sir but you are not eligible for appearing in merchant Navy. the eligibility says that:
1. you should have completed or pursuing +2 with physics, chemistry, maths.
2. you should have atleast 55% marks aggregate in PCM.
so you cant join now but you can try after doing your B,TECH.
